Lunar Charts

Has anyone had any success following lunar charts.
I know that there are some that swear by them and others that think they are a load of crap.
I have been doing a bit of research and according to one on-line chart today and tomorrow are supposed to be "Good Fishing" days. The best fishing day coming up is supposed to be on November 9, according to one chart. Another agrees with that and suggests that the 10th is also a great day for fishing. However, the first chart suggests that Nov 18 and 19 are also "Best Fishing" days. The other chart does not rate those days at all, and suggests Nov 23 and 24 are the "best" fishing days. Any day is a great day for fishing, but it would be good to be able to have a head start.

Regards Colin Hay

Anglers Almanac for me

Tue, 2007-10-30 15:20

I dont follow the Lunar, but i do use the "Anglers Almanac", it's very accurate when you fully understand what it means!

I've documented for the last 9 years of Cockburn Sound Pink Snapper activity and most all the time the Almanac's correct!

Fish feed on sun up and sun down periods but what else happens in between?? ....well the Almanac will show you major & minor feed time and moon up & moon down feed time which happens through out the day & night. Fish can feed up to 4 times in a day period i reckon.

I've had sessions on catching pink snapper in the Sound at lunch time (bright sunlight) and the fish are going off, doesn't normally happen but the Almanac showed me it 'could" or "should"

There's no such as the white days are bad, they just aren't as productive and whilst you may get some good fish this is a "guide" not a written guarantee!

I swear by the Almanac and Tide periods, both do work together yes but not all the time. For inshore fishing the Almanac is a must and it's still good for offshore fishing but not as criticalal imo.......the high tide is more so!

Great Idea Brad. Where are you located. I spent a few years in Dampier in the 1980s. What a fishermen's dream the Pilbara is. Regards Colin Hay
