At least our boys went down fighting this week mate. There's a couple of pretty handy players bobbing up now. Not confident for the derby but I doubt Freo fans are either.
We had a night on the boat and flicked the radio on half way through the 1st and was surprised.
Certiainly 100 points less than I thought it was going to be but it did sound like they were playing in an oven, and good to see an even mix between the seniors (Ryan and Kelley) and the new/young guys in the highlights.
Also nice to see the respect for JD in the kangas win.
My thoughts exactly. I was at Rotto and checked the score early and was shocked!
Agree on JD. I heard him interviewed on the radio and he said quite a few had gone over to celebrate with him, which is great. Love him or hate him he served the club well over the years.
Hopefully they can be competitive and win anough along the way to move up a few spots on the ladder. So far the teams that I thought might be worse haven't been!
It's going to be a long season mate. If we at least see some improvement that will be palatable but so far there's nothing to like. The basic skill errors are very hard to watch.
There are at least some green shoots at an individual level, but the young fellas aint gonna get you over the line week in and week out and will show bursts of what they can do rather than much more.
For me the positives have been Archer Reid, Jack Williams, Tom Gross, Tyrell Dewar, Ruben Ginbey, Elijah Hewitt although as I say, mostly in small burst without the consistency that 4 or 5 pre seasons and experience builds. Also Liam Baker was a solid choice to bring in to the club. Looking forward to them getting Rhett Bazzo back on the park as I believe he really will be a player of the future.
The issue remains the same as it has been for years, too many senior palyers who are no good or seem not to care. Top of the list Tim Kelly, anyone can look good running around with Selwood, Dangerfield, Duncan and co taking the heat but as soon as he's asked to do any of the heavy lifting he's not interested. As soon as he admiotted a few months back to having lost the love of the game he should have been cut from the list, pay him out, good riddance. Yeo can't get on the park, Oscar Allen too busy looking at what he can get paid elsewhere next year and Cole, Flynn, Petrucelle, Edwards, Brockman and Long at a minimum are just not good enough.
Time to bite the bullet and play all of the young kids, getting smashed anyway, at least start to build the team dynamic of the next 10 years, worked pretty well for the hawks. As much as it pains me to say, I think the best option for Oscar Allen and Harley is to trade them out for multiple high end picks if possible.
It's not going to get better any time soon without a change of tack.
Can't disagree with anything you said mate. Baker certainly hasn't come home to rest on his laurels and gives it everything. Apparently he is the new benchmark for training too, which is good as the team is unfit generally. Ginbey looks better thi syear and more like we saw a couple of years ago but stronger. No quick fixes for this unfortunately.

Have missed a trick here. Why have these split rounds at the beginning of a season?
Start the year with a Bang get all the teams to play and put the show on country wide.
Not to impressed with some of the new channel 7 "commentators"

Chances of Harley getting in a wrestle with boo's from the Dockers faithful are almost a certainty though.
