Stormy Snapper
Submitted by GS1984 on Fri, 2013-07-26 11:12
Anyone braving the storm to give snapper a go this evening was thinking this might just be the perfect weather to land my first shore based pinky! Is it true you have more chance of catching them in a storm? Anyone reccomend any spots to try I guess rock walls are better than the beach im NOR too
Cheers Guys

Nope
When we first got there around 7 we couldn't get out of the car it was that windy, came back about 9 and fished for about 3 hours with nada, blowies galore harbour side and not even a nibble ocean side. There were a few guys came and went, one of the guys reckons he caught a 5kg ray and a Pinkie but lost it as he was bringing it in.

First LB Snapper!
Got my first LB snapper today! Went 65cm and about 4kg. Thanks to the lads who came and gave me a hand to land it, much appreciated. It's on an ice slurry at the moment, can anyone tell me how long it'll stay fresh for in the slurry? And best way to cook a pinkie?
Cheers all,
Alex

One of my favourite ways is to cook the wings
You'll need these fresh ingredients:
Clove of Garlic
Ginger (same size as garlic glove)
Half Red Chilli - seeds removed
Juice of half a lemon
Tablespoon Sugar
Enough Butter to shallow fry the Snapper Wings (Not Margarine, and Not salt reduced - you want the salt)
Put all of these fresh ingredients into a blender (But not the snapper of course) and blend until all mixed & grated
Heat your Frying pan and put the mix in and bring to a high enough temp to fry
Put the snapper wings or fillets in and cook on each side for about 5 mins to get the nice cooked & golden brown colour

Pan-fried snapper
Thanks to all those who shared tips re: keeping and cooking snapper. It came out really nicely filleted, segmented then pan-fried in butter and some seasoning... Amazing!
