Can always run the combo as a plotter only.
Main problem with iPad is lack of water resistance and they really struggle with heat mounted on the dash.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Thanks I normally use iPad when I'm drifting, bit more accurate than the Navman.. it's fine it's just battery life was thinking of just upgrading iPad and using that with USB to keep it charged but just worry about reliability but so far the one I use has been fine

Early Lowrance HDS...
are cheap but slow GPS. Look for a model with 10 updates /sec. Having a combo unit is a safety factor in case the main FF dies.

Lowrance Elite Ti2
Had the same issue and installed a the Elite TI2, was around 1200 from memory, been out a few times and have worked out how to use most of it. A lot of easy set info on utube too.
