Jonah

I have been rabbiting on for months about finally getting the old Quinny out Geographe Bay. Sunday was the big day, fueled up, esky full of bait and ice and the wife keen to have a go at a KG or two. Now it starts - New lights packed up - still it's easy to sneak through Busso early on a Sunday. Next i asked the wife if she had put the bungs in - she had - on the rear seat where they sat while water poured in. Fixed that, launched and tried to start the motor - no go, could not get the priming bulb hard so had the wife toss out the anchor about a 100m off the beach. Cover off and lo and behold, the fuel bayonet on the motor had lost a circlip and dropped inside the cover. I have medium size fingures - to get the connection back through the cowling you need size SMALL. Towed back in by a top guy in a pimp boat - then home with tail between the legs an hour after leaving. Goes to show even though i had drum tested the motor last Saturday - things can go wrong. Now it's Monday with all the long weekenders clogging the ramp.

better than towing a 26' foot fibreglass boat

to Onslow  then Thevarnard Island., get there next morning off friends went, wife smell petrol kept fishing, got snapper mackel etc.  Home, second day out they went boat stopped, fuel everywhere. got towed in. crack in fuel pump.  Now before they went car serviced, new tyres, In board (volvo) motor serviced, trailer bearings replaced with new etc. And everything stopped with a hair line crack to the fuel pump.  Fantastic bloke towed them to Onslow in his Leisure Cat with a southerly up their bum.

So the moral to the story is be damned if you do be damned if you don't.
