Electric motor v Anchor Winch

Anyone who has an electric motor with spot lock or an anchor winch, why did you go with one over the other?  Or has anyone changed from one option to the other and why?  Trying to decide which way to go for a 6.7m Glass boat.

Appreciate any insight or experience people have to help me decide.

cheers

Just had the same conversation over and over with myself Brad.I chose the electric on my new build because the type of fishing I do and only ever anchor inshore a few meters. Also it's easier for me to spend a couple of k on a winch later on rather than 10k plus and bow mods for electric.I havnt used one before but they sound pretty awesome

Boat size matters

For smaller boats I would suggest an electric motor.

They will hold position fairly easily and give you more options for use.

Larger boats I would go a winch.

Unless it's a complete glass off it will be working pretty hard to hold you in position.

I thought long and hard about fitting an electric motor when I was building my boat but 10k for 4 dermersals didnt really add up for me.

Yeah the holding power for a larger boat was one thing I was concerned about and the price, including extra battery starage etc. You've got a good point swarf re the return on investment, particularly with the current state of fishing restrictions.
