Internal rod storage
Submitted by big john on Thu, 2009-02-26 15:50
Being someone who likes to have all my bases covered, and the fact that I might try several different fishing techniques on any given day, I'm looking for some creative storage ideas for my trolling rods in the cabin area of my vessel (either upright or horizontal).
Does any one have any solutions that work for them? If so, some pics would be appreciated.
John

First option may be to mount something on the side wall.
Second option might be to mount some sort of hanging arrangement in the cabin area.

I assume you allready have a
I assume you allready have a rocket launcher? If so, perhaps you could put a second one on, staggered (i.e. one less) back.
You could mount od holders on the roof of the cabin horizontally. Use the standard plastic ones for the ends, and the rubber ones to hold the tips in place. Would need to check about them slipping on big waves of course (there are solutions). It might stick out too much into the fishing space though.
You said horizontally or vertically, theres one other option ;)
This option, which is what I would do, is install a bank of rod holders just behind the bucket in the first picture. Angle them and offset them from the hull so they so they run parallel with the surface of the white plate to the left of the passenger seat. If you play around with the angle, you should be able to get some rods in there no problems. If they're long, use a steeper angle \\\ and you might be able to keep them out of your fishing area. A more shallow angle would allow more rods perhaps though. If there is no gap between the seat and the edge of the cabin, then you'll have to figure out the specific angle that gives more storage.
More 'zoomed out' shots might help with more options. The key is to not be bound to straight square lines. Stagger, angle and offset ;)
If you mount them level on the roof, you dont have to have them inline with the boat.
