First of the season

Went out from woodies last night after work for first crack at a pinky this season. There were a few boats where we ended up and we saw a few high fives so a couple of decent fish must have got boated. We were surprised to get three undersized dhuies (by as little as about 5mm), as well as some little sharks, a ray and some rock cod. Decided to pull the anchor and move but anchor was stuck properly and we eventually snapped one of the links on the chain. If anyone is going for a dive just west of Carnac let me know and I will give you the spot and a carton if you can find it.

ended up heading back into the sound sans anchor and with nothing in the esky so thought we would try another spot. Fished it pretty hard for a couple of hours and luckily ended up with a nice pinky as per below. My brother also lost one half way into the boat as despite it being well hooked the leader must have been worn and snapped clean off.

Good to be back in to it, but still struggling to find other spots that produce.

cheers,

jarrid

Leader well worn Hmmmm

Are you sure the leader was well worn or could you perhaps have been paid a visit by Mr G. White who is know to inhabit the area around the back of GI and carnac.

Easy to keep clean with one

Sat, 2014-08-02 23:03

Easy to keep clean with one fish, but has seen a couple over its time. I also do the bleeding in the kill tank so not too bad once in the esky.

Sure it wasn't a shark as it was literally being pulled from the surface into the boat when it snapped. Leader probably got worn due to my brothers incompetence on a prior occasion through getting snagged or something like that. He really is pretty average

Stick at it. We bagged out (4 over 70cm) on Friday night in 90 mins. out from Cockburn. They are definetly out there. September should be good in the sound.
