Exmouth FishWrecked Fishing Comp 2009 May the 2nd & 3rd
With only 12 more weekends before we all hit the exmouth waters, thought we should get an uptodate list going and maybe some new members would like to sign up. It is going to be a great time with around 57 members already .
To be decided on the prizes and line class, there will be a gamefish section, bottom bounce section and landbased section, which will have smaller subsections. Its $10 per person entry for Saturday and Sunday and theres a prize pool of $500 so far and a large blown up photo of a coral trout under the Exxy Navy pier donated by Gully link to view pics : http://fishwrecked.com/node/18749. So including the entry fee $ tally, probably another $500 to go into the kitty without any sponsors or anything else included.

are the backpackers tag and release? i would recomend release, otherwise they stick around and drink all your piss, eat all your food, etc. the only way to successfully release them, is to palm them off to exmouth locals...
what is the best bait to target the backpackers?
what do yo do if you get multiple hook-ups on multi backpackers?

i dont think line class was going to be a prob , you can fish with whatever line you want , if a shark wants your fish it wont bother it weather you are using 10lb or 1000lb he will take it, lol

if you dont have digital you can get some pretty cheap ones or if you have video cam you could use that then you can totally show off

you buy some cheap little things from red dot ect. give one to each boat on the first day and it needs to be seen in each photo of the fish or a random word for each day to be written on a piece of paper with an artliner with anglers name and date and time of capture in case of a draw eg exact same length then you go by first capture time.I will put up a 20 dollar voucher for the longest and tastiest squid tube delivered to me
as i will need to be able to verify to taste this will be a no return category 
So there is one new category for you.

photos mandatory, although it may be the wrong kind of date in the photo.
i also think there should be strict rules on size limit on this species.

to reach the legal size i would have to say at least 18yrs old as they are verry slow growing, however they have tendencies to breed well before they reach that size

we found them schooling up in good numbers around the potshot late at night, with the larger specimens lurking around the outskirts of the school, although its best to let these ones be, as they arent much of a challenge.
the healthier ones tend to hang around in numbers, and near defined structures like bars and dancefloors. they respond to a well presented lure, like a smirnoff black or a bacardi breezer, and once you can get one of them to take a lure, the rest of them soon follow, and it usually results in a frenzy.
actually trying to "land" one in this frenzy is pretty hard work, although i've seen them landed on reasonably light tackle. i have also seen a mad frenzy where after plenty of hook-ups, not one was landed. such is the nature of the backpacker.

The legal size for backpackers is generally known as "the guage" - it is determined by putting your two fists together and straightening out your pinkies - if the hips dont fit, back she goes.
There are no known bag limits, although the taking of one will usually spook the rest of the scholl from taking your offerings. Only ofn very rare occassions will they feed in packs, those days are magic and a memory to be savoured.

We will be staying in yarrdi creek from the 6th of may to the 18th of may.I booked it a year ago after going to c/bay last year, looking forword to having a beer .We have 2 boats 7 people, my boat will have 2 dads and two 17 year old young men, cool.
