The front

Sat, 2011-01-29 17:04

looked ominous. just like the hail storm last year, but it skirted past Ikea with only a short blast. Looked like it was more coastal than inland?

Poor quality pic taken on my phone.

I wouldn't have wanted to be on the boat when that went through.

I think next time I go there it willbe a week day to avoid the crowds.

Here is another pic from the escalator on the way out.

out running the front

Sat, 2011-01-29 18:53

Hah we went to rotto today to beat the heat, the front started coming in around 2pm { man it looked awesome over the water } and without any radar info we made a quick decision to make a dash for home seeing as sundays weather was looking crap, we left about 3 pm just as it hit the island and as Pgreen said man did it move fast we were trying to out run it and had rain pouring in from behind soaking the dash { we have a 7.5m plate ally with a decent size cab } ...visability was down to maybe 20m ???

Funny thing was it pasted that quick it was over before you new it and the winds and seas dropped off to about 5kn as we got closer to freo !!!!

cheers fishfish...

was out 55ks from rocko and noticed a bit of a change in the whether around 2.00 so thought we had better head back in , the closer we got the darker it was getting  and 25 ks to go and we had lightnig cracking

infront and to the north and very heavy rain but the seas and wind were still ok  but only lasted ten minutes and then passed just in time to sweet my ass off back at the ramp with all the steam rising of the concrete

Great pics Andy, there were some wicked shots on Perthnow that people sent in.

We were driving down Rowe Hwy when it hit and the rain was fierce.  We probably had 20m visibility if we were lucky...
