A question, or a few if I may?
Was your Mulla caught during day light hours as the pic would suggest? If so was it out at sea deep or in close to shore?
I have caught some good Mullas out wide in the past (quite some years ago) but have never been lucky enough to get one in close, let alone during day light hours.
On another note; The reel to the Right of you in your pic. has me intrigued. Hmmn, what is it?
Just read your other post so that has answered my where question.
Many years ago when the charter boat 'Sharkari' hadn't long been running, we got onto a large school of Mullas out wide from Garden Island. If I can recall, everyone on board at the time hooked up and boated at least 1 fish, but to give the skipper credit he moved on and left the fish biting for another day after that.
it was caught out wide in 100+m water, the reel is a diawa electric winch. and for Paul it fought well for the firts five to ten meters taking a bbit of line but was a dead weight the rest of the way. The last two meters or so he came up quick and surfaced like a big balloon and i took my time first called it for a sambo like the one that came up previously
Mike - Rob here (as in Samui Rob) - that's a top fish mate well done. I still have to take you out to do some LB fishing sometime...show you how NOT to catch a mulla!
Absolute corker mate....I'm a jealous boy right now!
