They make excellent crab, cray and shark bait and IF you are starving and on your last legs probably something you would still pass on.

Dunno what you guys are on about, I heard they are great on the chew. I wouldnt even bother gutting them, just stew them up whole! Yum.

buff bream

haven,t tried them myself so can,t say how good or bad they are.   back in 1980 i saw some italian blokes catching them at rockingham. the buffs were packed in shoulder to shoulder along the waters edge. there were thousands of them. they were poling them like tuna.  one bloke would squeeze on a bit of dough bait and the other bloke would flick out the line tied on the end of the pole and when he hooked one he just swung it in and his mate took it off the hook and rebaited.

i think the bait  was made with dough , salami, cheese , and garlic. they must have thought the buff were okay to eat as they caught a swag of them.  unless they wanted to fertilise their gardens..  i beleive the buff eat cabbage seaweed normally, hence their other name.. shitty bream.

So I have been told a great

So I have been told a great way to cook them. They reckon if you boil them in a pot of water with a rock. You wait until the fish is cooked throw out the buff bream then eat the rock. Sound good to me :).
