Floating dock for Marina

Hi

I am looking at the possibility of putting my 7,3 M fibreglass boat in a pen at Mindarie. Looking for any info on best floating dock system for my boat. Also would be interested in a good 2nd hand unit anyone might have

Cheers

Eric

Sea Pen

Sat, 2024-12-07 07:07

Hi Eric, I managed to get an old Sea Pen set up for a cat for my Powercat 2500, has been an absolute game changer. The newer models look even better. Guy with the pen next door has a newer, fancier "Docky Dock" system and hates it, reckons he will get a Sea Pen after seeing what mine does. One downside, it is quite noisy (think a blow dryer on full blast) when pushing air in or out of the collar. If I'm leaving early in the morning I try to put the collar down the night before out of consideration for the neighbours. Again, I think the newer models are much better in this regard, mine is around 20 years old and still going strong.

Cheers,

BD.

Thanks Browndog. Sea Pen is the direction I was thinking. Will definitely go that route now. Will first try find a good second hand one, but if none available will bite the bullet and buy new. Cheers for your reply

Hi Again Browndog. Quick question, where is your boat located. Would be great if I could see a seapen working. Cheers again

 Hi Eric

There are quite a few for sale on Boatsonline. Try this Air Docks Boat Lifts Pontoons Sea Pens Fab Docks For Sale in WA | Boats Online

There are a lot where I keep my boat and they look like a great way to store a boat.

Seapen at Hillarys

Hi Browndog, sorry for the late reply. Got a last minute invite to Cervantes to do some crayfishing with beach launching to overcome the ramp queues. Good that I went as the crays were off the planet. Bag out every day on single pot pulls. I am back now and would like to check if you are still OK with me coming round to sea your Sea Pen at Hillarys if / when you are back from Quobba. Cheers Eric

Hi Ericl, no problems, PM sent. My old one might be for sale as well as I've been offered an upgrade at a crazy good price.

Cheers,

BD.

Noticed this one in the Freo area, but might not be what you're after.

Thanks Browndog

Many thanks to Browndog for taking me to see his boat and Seapen. After seeing the Seapen in action, I have no doubt that Seapen is the way to go and have now ordered one for delivery in February. The other benefit for me other than easier boating will be that I can more easily and safely maintain the trailer which will enable me to do long trips on occasion knowing the trailer is in good condition. Cheers again Browndog
