Awesome day at Rotto

Had a cracking day over at Rottnest with my Dad on Thursday. Arrived at the West End to be greeted by a southerly, 3m swell and a strong northern current pushing down. One word - ugly. Slipped back down the northern side to get out of a very confused sea and started trolling for zero return. After a while we noticed that the wind had swung slightly more south east so we decided to have another look at the West End - wasn't brilliant but at least fishable.
Out went the rapala's and five minutes later double hook up - nice Salmon. Started trolling again and came across a huge show mid water on the sounder when bang, double hookup. Went back to find the fish and they had moved elsewhere, strange. Kept pulling nice salmon and then after a while we found the show of fish again. Well then she really started - salmon on rapala's, salmon hitting stickbaits boatside, salmon on plastics, salmon on bream gear etc. Two spice things up there was some YTK's mixed in with the salmon but the couple we hooked were unfortunately on the small side.
Great day was had and we eventually left them biting for a smooth run home at 3.00pm.

Sounds like its another bumper year of salmon down there. I had Gully ring me up to brag about how good yesterday was. I do miss my light tackle salmon, but theres plenty up here to make up for it. ;)

Some great pics there Big John, cheers for sharing.
