airmar transducer 1 kw

I have a 680 patriot and i am having alot of trouble getting my 1 kw airmar transom mount transducer to read clear or even
the depth over 15 km ph wich is really bad. As i have trimtabs i can not get it any further away from the motor and i have tried moving
it up and down with no luck . any suggestions on the best locations ???

Yep, i had same trouble
I have a 680 patriot also. Had exactly the same trouble.
Do a search and you will see most of my posts pop up.
I built a wet box and put it in the hull. I used the same transom mount transducer and it worked a treat.
Had nice clear eadings on a reasonably calm day up to 30 knots and it didnt seem to lose much power shooting through the hull either. Have fished out to 200m with it.
i reckong half of the trouble with that transducer is the gap between the front of it and the transom. Seems to be alot of space for turbulance to build up before washing over the face of the transducer.
