Yanchep Fishing

We went to Yanchep for the long weekend and on Sunday we took the kids to Yanchep Lagoon for a fish.
We set up on the beach just at the mouth of the Lagoon. The spot was absolutly magic. We do not usually beach fish as the kids have trouble casting any great distance. Yanchep Lagoon was great as it is very protected with very little wave at the beach so we had half a chance.
We caught and released one very small Sand Whiting and three blow fish for a two hour fish. It was great fun and everyone had a good time.

Was anyone fishing off the outside of the reef Bluebone?
That spot where you were fishing can be quite good in the eveinings.

There were people fishing
There were people fishing off the back of the reef the evening before. We did not see how the went.
There were a few people fishing off the rocks at Club Capricorn. One bloke did well catching a nice talor in the late afternoon. The boys could not believe their eyes.
I just don't trust the kids' balance on the rocks for casting so that is why we waited till the next day to fish at the Lagoon.
When we arrived at the Lagoon there were people diving off the back of the reef it was so smooth and calm great for a snorkel too.
We knew that we would not catch too much fishing the Lagoon in the middle of the day with small spinning rods but you never know what is hanging around.
Some people set up next to us who had beach rods and plenty of gear. Looked like they knew what they were doing. We left just after they arrived.

Mate, looks like a great day! That's what it's all about. That spot does look magic to take the kids to.

It sure looks like the youngsters had a good time
and the lagoon is a great place to whet their fishing appetites. I am sure you will be back there again.

Yep all the people coming up
Yep all the people coming up to yanchep to live ,and once they get here want to change everything ,so its like perth. I say go back where you came from and leave the place the way its been for the last 40 years.if you don't like people fishing in the lagoon then go swim somewhere else and take your dogs with you that crap on the beach .I love yanchep as its been my home for my whole life,times are changing but i don't have to like it.

Quinns
Quinns rocks was the same but progress as we call it comes and spoils it.If you meet people from down towards the beach there they are pretty laid back but once you get over the top of the hill things change very quickly.
Shame to see it happening at Yanchep/Two Rocks,spent 19 years there and loved every minute of it

Hi Davey Boy, the sand whiting was a pretty exciting catch for Joel and Ben, they only mannaged to catch one so he went back to swim another day. We were there for a couple of hours and probably would have caught some more if we stayed longer. Yanchep Lagoon is a great spot and one day we will get up there again. It is worth a fish if you can get yourself there.

If the swell and tide is low, the reef out the front is one of
best tailor spots around. But you want to have good reef boots and a reef bag.

Colin the day we were at
Colin the day we were at Yanchep Lagoon the reef looked pretty sedate and really nice. We were not equipped for rock fishing but it looked pretty fishy. For us it has been the best land based spot that we have tried as it was not completely over run with blowies and the kids and I could cast without being bowled over by a wall of white water.
