I went to mindarie during one last year and it would have to be the most fun ive ever had NOT catching fish......

also whens the best time to go, before during or after??

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

not during

Breno, I did think about snapper fishing when the storm was coming through. I work at Henderson so thought about getting out on the groyne and wetting a line but as my snapper rod is graphite it's not something I want in my hand during an electrical storm!

most fish will seek shelter

most fish will seek shelter during the storm - and I believe a pending storm will put them off the bite 9 times out of 10.

After the storm though, things have been stirred up, freshwater flow might be depositing new food in estuaries, etc so I reckon thats the time to go.

small crustacaeons (im sure

small crustacaeons (im sure i spelt it wrong) are a faved by alot of fish out there. Snapper love em. I figure, and notice that, seeing as they love the shelled creatures so much, they come closer to groynes to pick at the baits being washed from our rock groynes and ghost crabs out the beaches.

The mouth of a pinkie is very suited to do this annd is quite capable of crushing shellfish.

Alot of snapper picked up off groynes are usually relatively close. Those that pick pinkies during a storm know that most are found quite close rather than as far as you can cast with the wind.

Alot of sharks appear in the calm after a storm for some reason, im not sure why, but maybe its because they have biggens to feed off as they come in close to feed off the aftermath of the stormwaters.

Good way to choose a beach to fish if beach fishing is to look where reef and rocks are and where the baits from those structures would be washed up or taken by the current.. So if we had sw winds, then ideally you'd want to be ne from that structure.
Thats why for example, the north mole kiosk area used to be so good to fish when it was able to, because baits from the stretch of groyne to the lighthouse usually is washed up and around the north of the kiosk part of the rock wall. Fishing the very end of the mole usually isnt as productive.

Im not usually phased about rods and lightning, most of the time there, the rod is in a rod holder and im in the car anyway. Though, being struck by lightning would make a goood photo of the month lol.

Thing i hate most about fishing storms is, the rods always load up because of the wind, and its very hard to determine if you have a hit or if its just the wind toying with ya.
