From what I can gather

Mon, 2008-12-15 21:13

The Heartland is a small step up with an extra bearing, larger main bearing and all the bearings are CRBB.

I think from memory the SOL 4000 is around $330, so I'd hazard a guess that the Heartland would be about $370 maybe?

I dont think you could go wrong with either reel in your application to be honest.

sweet :0

might just have to go the heartland then and put it on a 7' heavy flick rod (10 -20lb) .. anyone know if these would suit a nitro godzilla rod (never seen the rod so it might be too heavy)

certate 4000

Mon, 2008-12-15 21:55

from memory will run you $600 or $700. At one stage you could import them for ~$400, but the exchange rate has knocked that on its head.

You could also check out the Fireblood in that price range.

Bit much

Mon, 2008-12-15 21:56

Personally dont think either reel is really suited to 30lb. Better off with the 20lb. Apart from that both are good reels with not much between them.

Certates are reel nice. Got 2 of the 4000's and love them. Both loaded with 20lb.

Feral, I have a 3000 Heartland and I am really impressed

Tue, 2008-12-16 07:31

with how smooth it is and the pulling power it has. The 4000 has a much better handle. The 3000 handle is a bit small for my meaty hands, so I am going to put on one of those "Bling" handles.

I would agree that 20lb

I would agree that 20lb braid is about the smart limit. If you go a relly nece Jap pe2 braid that will be about 30lb anyway. I run 15lb tuffline on the Branzino and it is sweet.
