Shark Bay Landbased Fishing Info

Hey Guys.. I may be up that way for a few days soon. Driving the Missus as part of her work in the Health Dep't looking after the nursing posts etc. I like to take a bit of time off to escort her and cash in on some fishing. Any pointers in good spots close by for a fish?? The most north I know of is Kalbarri..

plenty of whiting around atm
plenty of whiting around atm , from what i have been told you can get some sharks from the beach near town in the evenings on the high tide apart from that it might be a fair drive out to steep point

4wd
if you have 4wd then the peron peninsula offers a few spots for anything depending on wind direction. get directions from denham. being a nat park entry fees were required last time i was there. beautiful bit of coast though

as rig said the peron peninsula is relatively easy to access with a 4wd and has some great fishing to offer (be wary though a $1000 tow out fee now applies if you get stranded and need to call for help) theres not a whole lot around there thats 2wd accesable, most of the area is too damn shallow.
you can wade the flats around monkey mia on low tide and fish off the edge into drop offs, but just be wary of the fast incoming tide, stone fish, toothy critters and a few other nasty things that you wouldn't want to step on.
you could also try the main jetty at night, theres some big squid around and if your lucky you may get some pinkys or school mack coming through. another option is to pay a couple of hundred and go out on a charter for the day. for around $200 you can go out to steep point/ dirk hartog area and as long as the weathers fine you are pretty much guaranteed to get onto some very good fish.

someone asked about this recently but i can say again big lagoon on the high for whiting(look out for the pros tho)or fish towards the pearl area at monkey mia with placcies for alsorts
