Raiders and the bigger the better

Anything metal for spinning...  or heavy poppers.. need to be able to cast as far as possible!

trolling pretty much anything that swims... salmon aren't usually fussy, they're either on, or off... more often than not, ON! :)

Surf poppers are also pretty deadly on salmon, particularly if there are some waves about.

...for a surf beach, something that casts well as mentioned, like big metals and poppers, or one of those Richter chisel plugs...white has been the best colour for me.

In calmer waters, bibbed minnows like Smilin Jacks and the more expensive 14 cm shallow running X-raps (they cast further and have a much sturdier finish).

At Dunsborough last year I watched six people throw mulies at a passing school for no response, and then have two fish come out of that same school and both latch onto my Roosta popper at the same time before busting me off around a rock, so yeah, always have some poppers in your kit!

They also love all shapes and sizes of soft plastics...have probably caught (or at least hooked!) more salmon on softies than all other lures combined, but you are limited with the casting distance so they're more of a boat lure.

Live herring will out fish any lure IMO. Last year at dunsborough saw several boats throwing all soughts of lures at a school with no response. As soon as a livey hit the water it was smashed.

Richter plug. as big as ur rod can cast comfortablly. and get it in white. seem to work better in white.
