Robberies in Exmouth

Hey all,
This is Mrs Deepwater here.. just a heads up for those in the Lighthouse caravan park and in houses n town.. There were 3 robberies last night ..in cars, but it was mainly fishing gear so please keep eyes on your possessions while you are here and dont leave to much in your boats and stuff.

Hope none of you were the ones hit last night... not sure how many of you will be able to read this message but if youknow someone who is staying there and have there mobile numbers please text them to let them know..

Thanks

Mrs Deepwater.

Yep the word has gone out

Yep, unfortunatly in peak season its a regular occurance. Alot of transiant people and easy targets.

Guys, dont make it easy for them take you stuff (gps/sounders/rods/boxes) etc out of your boats or lock em up in the cabin.

It could be someone passing through, someone hunting for the stuff or someone staying in the same park as you.

Its not what it used to be. Some people see a rod sitting in the holder and cant help themselves. Others are just looking for the gear to steal.

An email went out this morning to all tourisim/business operators in exmouth to remind them and their visitors to be vigilant with security of their gear.

cheers

yep while i was in exmouth

Thu, 2010-05-13 13:52

yep while i was in exmouth at the lighthouse park, i noticed almost all of the cabins had fishing gear sittnig outoside them at night.

Personally, i left some stuff outside, but nothing of value, all my tackle and rods and reels were inside.

But i was amazed at some of the gear i saw sitting out the front of the cabins, thousands and thousoands of dollars worth.

I was told the Lighthouse

Thu, 2010-05-13 14:11

I was told the Lighthouse was safe and nothing hardly ever gets stolen,,non the less all my gear went inside the cabin at night,,,i would not like to be tenting up there,,,easy target for thieves while you are on the water all day,,,

I must say we launched from the safest place in Exmouth everyday,,with a dozen grey nomads camped looking at our cars all day,,nothing gets past the grey haired sticky beaks Cool

when we lived in Exmouth, I

Thu, 2010-05-13 14:34

when we lived in Exmouth, I was still in Perth mode, and locked everything up, parked my bike behind a gate and put all my fishing gear away. Within 6 months I was used to the weather and the fact that you dont have to lock everything up...

I remember people going to the shops and leaving their cars running to keep the air-con going while they did their shopping.

Shame to hear about these thievng little weazels. hopefully they are just transients and not a permanent thing.

Scottbec it is still heaps like that...very little crime if any..well maybe a fair few drink drivers...lol

but its still a generally safe place and the car thing still happens bad to admit but we have left keys in the car over night...oops
not any more though..its busy season so you get the dickheads blowins that make it not the perfect place!! the rest are great!!!

Mrs Deepwater

my cousin

Thu, 2010-05-13 19:19

My cousin had his tackle bag stolen and his boat key, why his boat key is beyond me!!  Apparently a few got done in town and a couple out at the lighthouse.  Every year there is a spate for about a week that goes on then they leave town and it goes back to normal.

boat keys

Fri, 2010-05-14 09:33

yep we got the word from the manager at the lighthouse that kids had gone through one of the boats at the lighthouse park and stolen the boat keys for some reason , the boat i dont believ was in the comp but the owner now is waiting for a spare to be sent up from perth, there were certainly plenty of other rigs out last night including Matts but nothing else reported stolen , we have been told there was some gear taken from some boats in town, so now were all aware and take all gear out each night, we have no idea what somebody would acheive by taking some one keys

boat keys

Some people will steal anything mate, for the simple fact that they can get away with it, pretty sad really!!

Spare

Fri, 2010-05-14 17:53

That sucks. Bit late for the poor chap involved but its always good practice to have a spare boat key kept somewhere safe, just like your car.
