Reels for the North West

Hey,
I am hoping to get a few ideas on what is the best reels, o/head and spin for bottom bashing around Exmouth. What does everyone else use? Is it a Saltiga, Stella, Twinpower, Avet, Certate etc. Just need a bit of direction.

I found our Tynos 30's a great all rounder for trolling and bottom bashing. Loaded with 40lb mono we still had scary moments bringing up the larger beasts. All good fun though.

you can use the same reels there as you would anywhere else but maybe just a bit heavier leader line and hook line. them fish up there have sharp teeth.

I just bought a Shimano
I just bought a Shimano Twinpower 10000 FC and loaded it up with 50 lb braid. If you mated this up to a T curve deep jig 200 spin you would have an awesome outfit. I had a Twinpower 6000FB on my T curve 200 with 50 lb and it was an absolute pleasure to use.
It's a bit lighter than the SW Twinpower 8000 and Stella and for 50lb is all you need and at a much cheaper cost. The 10000 FC is the same size as the 6000 except the spool.
If you did want to go Daiwa the Catalina is the competitor to the Twinpower or possibly the Seagate. They both come in 4500 sizes which is what you want for 50 lb braid. The Seagate is a beefed up version of the Saltist with a true engine plate and 2 more bearings so you are getting quality if you get this reel. I nearly got one but went with the more expensive Twinpower in the end.
I've moved away from OH's due to the quality of spin reels I now use and highly recommend them but if you did want an OH the Saltists are good and the new Shimano Talica looks fantastic. I have a Torsa (now my brothers) and it's great but a little heavy and off balance. The Talica is lighter and has less torque wobble. My wife has a Saltiga 30T and I can't fault it. Her brother used it a a few times and went and bought one himself.
Hope that helps.

I like using my 4500
I like using my 4500 catalina. It is high speed retreive which makes the fishing fun when there are a lot of sharks around.
Man I love skull dragging fish up, especially when you can see the sharks following them.
Catalina has lasted me about 3 years now and never had a problem with 50 pound braid and worked it very hard.

bottom bashing i use
bottom bashing i use overheads and trolling.
casting it's all spinning reels, everything from a daiwa tierra 4000 for SP's, baitrunners for livebaiting the creeks to Saltist 6500's and soon a dogfight for poppers, nothing stopping me using the bigger spinning reels on smaller rods for bottom bashing.
Braid all the way as well, only use mono for trolling and for playing around catching things off the shore and squid.

if you want a cheaper option
if you want a cheaper option go the Penn 850SS with 30 lb braid.
will not dissapoint & are very reliable / easy to look after. I fished 3 yrs in the pilbara, both boat & land based and this was my weapon of choice
