Pop Top Caravan

Looking at buying a cheapish caravan, want a poptop as in the ends come out with 2 double beds.

Jayco

Coramal

Goldstream

These are a few, can anyone tell me about any real good solid vans similar to the list above that i'm missing and if you have any buying advice feel free to sling it my way...

Or even if you have one of the above thats a great model as there are soooo many feel free to give me the reasons you reckon you'd buy what you've got...

If its a well built van i dont care if its rated "4wd or offroad" i'll just go a little slower......

Hi,

We've got a Goldstream Storm, had it for three years now it was custom built for us . Went to town and optioned the shit out of it from factory .

- No wanky stripes or decals just the Goldstream logo ( looks nicer in my books! )

- Twin 60 litre water tanks

- Gas storage hot water system with shower on the outside two 9 kg bottles ( brilliant )

- Thetford 90 l three way fridge/ freezer

- microwave ( hardly gets used )

- Bunloads of storage space

- Twin 80 watt solar panels feeding two 100 ah deep cycle batteries ( installed inverter myself after )

- Four burner gas stove, grill and oven

- Innersprung mattresses ( mmmm mmmm , sleep is too easy on these bad boys)

- Leather upholstery all round ( more $$$ but easy to keep lean and way way comfy..:)

- Solid axle , Treg hitch . Tows well and couldn't justify extra 4K for independent suspension .

We've done near on 25000 k in her so far . First big trip was across the Great Central Road to the Rock. Up the guts to Kakadu ,Darwin and Litchfield. Home via Gibb River Rd .

All in all a sweet , sweet van . Apart from a few loose screws and minor door adjustments here and there it's a well built

Van . Had to beef up spare wheel bracket where the studs to hold wheel on were. Instead of using fat plate only three mill was used , now there's a five mill plate behind wheel. We've looked after yet not babied it , It looks brand new internally , exterior wise ( lives in Carnarvon ) it's still looking sweet . It wasn't cheap (42k all in ) but you get want you pay for these days ...:) . There's a reason why you see so many other pop tops on the road .

Would I buy another one?.... In a heart beat !

Thanks for the feedback fox but when i said cheapish i'm talking cheap, sub 12k....

For me its only a place we'll sleep.

It basically has to be well made and not fall to bit on some corrigations, water proof and easy to set up....

Anyone got any poptop brands/models they really rate?
