So this sort of marks the halfway point of the season.
Peoples thoughts on where your club is at?
Personally? I am happy with freo's progress. Two of our trades have fitted in really well and playing some great footy (hill and hamling). The other two are taking some time and still very inconsistent week to week. Kerstan seems to play on confidence alone.
The young kids played last year are developing well. Weller, blakely. Tucker sort of.
Fyfe will improve. A few critics just need to give him time. Sorry, not sorry. But noone can be expected to come straight back in at brownlow winning form.
All in all i didnt expect we would have six wins and be in the eight.
I am happy.

Griffin? I would like to see sean darcy given a game while sandi is out.
Sutcliffe? Debateable.
Johnson. Has been pretty solid. I think others really need to step up a level before his long term spot is at risk.

He is in the inconsistent category, although from my limited viewing, he certainly doesnt lack effort, particularly at ground level. And at times you could hardly blame him for lack of contributing with some of the crap our defence and mids have offered up.

i will admit it i have a man crush on brad hill freo easily recruit of the year out of all the afl clubs recruits (trades) my team melbourne recruited the most disinterested player in the afl that is on 500k min a year Jordan Lewis , he just wont have a crack , gives up chasing , obviously pissed of hawthon traded him , dosent look comfortable in a melblourne jumper

I'm honestly disappointed
I'm honestly disappointed with where the Eagles are at. Sure we're missing a few players, but show a bit of heart on the field at least. Darling needs to be offered up as trade bait or just donated to the WAFL. I used to look forward to watching him develop, I'm still waiting for him to develop. Lycett returning soon should help, but he'll be tapping to the slowest midfield in the comp so not sure it will.

Also throw the Frenchman (Lecca) into the mix as well. I think his best games are behind him, though he does have the occasional great game.
All for blooding new players, they are the future so don't leave them too long.
As for the bye, I don't like it, think it's a waste of time.
With the lists all clubs have & the money they get paid, they should not need it.
Maybe if the AFL wake up & make the season longer so all teams play each other home & away, then yes have a bye mid season.
Piss off the pre-season comp, or combine a few of the teams to compress the season.....

Flat track bullies is a very fair description of my boys and they are just soft and mentally fragile on the road and the problem stems from the top down.
I was hoping the Kennedy injury would ignite him but sadly it’s now at the point where Darling needs to be dropped to the WAFL and if that doesn’t work he needs a fresh start somewhere else to reignite his career. My thoughts are along the lines of a straight swap for Mitch McGovern who wants to come back to WA anyway giving us the upper hand in any trade negotiations which gives us the tall marking forward we so badly need and allows Darling to slot in behind Walker and Jenkins.
Lamb has shown glimpses but just isn’t putting the runs on the board for East Perth but the return of Lycett allows Vardy to go back to this natural position up forward and Petrie showed last week that he still has a lot to offer and Kennedy should return so we can safely squeeze Darling out of the side structurally to have a run in the magoos.
Priddis needs to be dropped for Partington full stop. His disposal is fucking shit even when he has time to not blindly bomb it into the forward 50, he is slow and Shuey is now our main clearance player and we also have Mitchell roaming the square.
Rioli looked good on the weekend kicking 1.2 in half a game and taking a huge hanger but he’ll look a bit better about 8kg lighter, probably not up to AFL standard as of yet. Which begs the question: what do we do with Lecras? He has runs on the board and I’d be willing to give him a couple more weeks to turn his form around and allow Rioli to gain match fitness in the WAFL.
The player that really excites me is Frances Watson who was tearing up the WAFL in badly losing sides before getting injured and played limited minutes in the ressies on Sat. A very classy mover who creates space for himself and delivery is elite. Should be a lock to replace Butler when fit.
Sheed is taking his game to another level and is one of a few standing tall on the road as is Yeo and I’ve really liked Jetta’s past two games. Duggan looks to have all the tools but just seems to be lacking something but I’d like to see Simpson persist with him.
I really think that thought needs to be given to making Shuey captain next season because he is one of two players in our side capable of taking a game by the scruff of the neck and pulling the side over the line. The other candidate is Yeo but I’d prefer the more senior player who has now strung a few good seasons together and let Yeo concentrate on his own game. In the interim we need Sam Mitchell to take a more active on-field role in directing players which is what I thought he was brought in for and haven’t noticed him doing.
Having an actual ruckman back in the side in Lycett is going to make a huge difference but our issues have been more than clearances. Our poor ball use is allowing sides to waltz through the corridor on the turnover and giving away easy goals out the back and our inaccuracy is killing us although goalkicking across the league this season has been shithouse so we aren’t alone there.
It’s not too late to turn things around and top 4 is still doable with the tightness of the comp and with 7 of our next 11 games at Subi but unless we can turn around our away form we may as well be slow dancing with our sisters.
All that being said we’ll probably see Simpson bring in Redden for Sheed after the bye…

Didn't see it coming but i guess it makes sense and I think the club has handled how things have gone well all things considered....
I see upside ( obviously ) in the youth, Hardwick, Burton, Mitchell, Sicily, Obrien, Howe, Miles, Stewart, Lovell & i'll even put at 26 yrs old Vickory in there that will no doubt get a few comments...
His best years are right in front of him, at 200cm bigger fellas take longer to get to their best but his time is now and hoipefully another pre season under Clarkson and co should have him pointed in the right direction...
Obviously one of the biggest questions is was it worth what they had to to do get Mitchell and Omeara to the club?
Its very easy 6 months in to say no because only one of them is on the park but lets give it another 12 months to see how things pan out...
IF... WC flop for the rest of the year will Sam Mitchell play on?? He stays fit maybe, if he gets any injuries that will be all she wrote for Sammy....
I hope we keep playing some kids, so far we've played the most players of any team to this point...
I'd like to see Cyril spelled until 2018 and if they keep injury free i'd be happy to see Hodge, Gibson and Burgoyne stick around and play some sort of role in 2018....

I only listened to the Hawks game on the radio but by all reports the 50m gimme goal when the Hawks were coming hard was the icing on the cake for GC and sounds like it was a piss poor umpiring decision!!

We have Ceglar, Shoenmakers, Sicily, Obrien, McEvoy, Fitzpatrick plus Vickory that are all talls that can play both fwd and in the ruck...
I'm certainly hoping to see an UPSIDE to the way Ty Vickory played at Richmond and especially if he's on good coin like its been reported at Hawthorn....
