lowrance hds5? any good?

been sussin out a decent sounder for a while now, the hds5 seems alright and there is no better place to get info on these kinds of things than on here so just wonderin if anyone has one or if anyone knows if they are any good, my price range is up to 1200 and preffer the pic quality of lowrance to furuno, any info would be good cheers boys

i think the hds's are very good, i would try to go bigger, as you will find the 5 to be too small once you got it.
save a bit more and get the 8 if you can, at least when you split the screen its not to bad!.
i have the 10 and it is awesome, even when split1

yer i was thinkin that would be the only problem, can u switch between the chartplotter screen and the sounder screen so there is just 1 up at a time??

but when trying to find your mark you need both at the same time, the bigger the screen makes for easy viewing.

next time out i will take a
next time out i will take a pic of my navman and the hds reading the same ground with the same 600 tranny and you can see the differance in detail is huge.

The HDS8 gets the nice soft
The HDS8 gets the nice soft buttons as well, the 7 and lower use the slightly-irritating menu system.
