So guys. if i have a stella 20000sw and lock it up. does that mean i have the 20kg ( or whatever ) pressure that is reccomended.

If you did up a stella

If you did up a stella really hard, you probably wouldn't have any drag at all. Often there is a big gap between actual max useable drag and manufacturer quoted drag.

You need to benchmark your drag, just to get an idea of what you're pulling, and after that you can set it by hand.

Jamie is there a mathematic formula as to clicks per ratchet = kg per drag, on any given reel .

None that actually work ;)

They would be dependant on drag washer wear and who knows what else.

How to set drags???

If you hook a fish and your not breaking your back to bring the fish in.....5 full turns....

If you fell over board becoz the "monster" pulled you in or the whole outfit of your hands.....then you'll know what do to next time....

LOL

20kg is still better than perviously model's 60lb max drag!!
To be honest if you do it up tight tight....then yeh probably close to it otherwise you'll do damage to the internals of the reel.....thats if the rotor hasn't cracked yet.

I think alot of people are being misled about the reel's max drag capability. The drag all comes from the spool and the amount of pressure required to turn the spool but if that pressure is more than what the shaft and other supporting parts can tolerate...... lets just say "no warranty"

Since when you need a 20k. You need to save up for a better walking frame !! (preferably with rod holders) lol

20000 as any more than that will pull your arms off or pull you in the water or rip the hook out the fishes mouth , if you want to give the fish no line then use a hand line with some vb cord

Try hanging on and on and on to a 20kg weight. I tell you now you wont for long and it will stuff you up. Much better to lower the drag and enjoy the fight without jelly arms after.

See Pilbarra Brad signature. PE 12 Feel the pain. Well that will happen.
