Touched them up? I only shoot in RAW, so I have to post process anyway. They have been cropped, and very light edits applied for adjustments to exposure--some of these were blown out and overexposed, really minor editing applied only. No adjustment to colour temp or tint, mostly none to saturation, that purplish tinge seems to come naturally in thunderstorms at the right exposure. The majority of these were shot at 20 second exposure, F5.6, ISO 200. Although I had to go down to ISO 100 and F7.1 as it was just too bright. And these are all single exposures, no layering of multiple exposures.
Camera is a Pentax K-70, with Sigma 18-125mm DC HSM lens.
Good lightning work requires that it is not too far away, or too close--for safety and the fact it will likely be raining on you anyway. These are cropped, and it was just beyond the next ridge, and sitting rather stationary. I have been photographing approaching storms, and had to run for cover as they just get too close for comfort. I had the lxuryof the ute only 20 metres away, I could have just got into that and let the camera keep working on its aluminium tripod if I'd been worried.
I found a good vantage spot here last year, and reckoned it had been hit at least twice within recent years--the iron ore pebbles were just blackened, melted and fused together over 2 or 3 metres
Mostly on TP site, but I've also covered for others at Marandoo and the old Brockman camp for short periods. We're doing what is known as the EIR--Electrical Infrastructure Renewal . Lots of really old HV gear up here in places, we are replacing it with all new switchgear, most of it remotely controlled from the OC, and most of the cabling underground, where possible. I'm supervising on an 8/6.
I done a fortnight at Tom Price back in October and was based at B4, B2 and Jerriwah for most of the last 6 months last year. I work as a HSE manager for Sodexo.
