Ideal tacklebag

I was fortunate to receive this bag, which is being marketed as a Miner's Tool Bag, to do a review on today. I instantly thought, perfect tacklebag.
It is made of super heavy duty, water proof, vinyl and has heaps of pockets.

I am thinking of making a few additions to it, such as stitching on some thick elastic that will me to strap a two piece rod to it.

Does anyone have any suggestions of things they have thought they would like to see in a tackle bag.

I will be using it for landbased fishing.

Many thanks, Colin Hay

i have a berkley TMS

i like it but i think i need more space

i think it should have compartments for small boxes but then also have lots of room to put reels, other boxes and misc stuff you wanna chuck in. A cooled bait/food compartment. Leader dispenser(pflueger bags have these).

Waterproof compartment for phones/wallets/ipod

Soft plastics wallet compartment for rigs and plastics

front compartment for other stuff

and... a VERY comfortable carry strap

its not fun carrying an uncomfortable one around....specially when use pub transport

and as you said colin, some way of strapping rods on

How much are they retail Colin? SRP?

A great looking material. Do they have the ability to keep water out with water proof zips etc?

off Ebay for $16! - lots of compartments, rod velcro tabs and all the bells and whitles - but aluminium zips which corroded out in a couple of months - bin job.

No zips on this bag Ian

It is all velcro closures and everything is double stitched.
Because each pocket is double stitched and waterproof I plan to put bait in soke of the pockets, reels in some of the others and my tackle box with sinkers, hooks, etc in the main section with a cut up pool noodle holding made up rigs. And there is still plenty of room to carry a few beers.

Got an Abu Garcia back pack

Wed, 2009-02-25 07:07

Got an Abu Garcia back pack that has been good to me but the zips let it down and its not water proof  has the cold storage bit and rod holder spots great for land based fishing where you have a bit of walking/climbing to do on land I personally prefer a back pack style bag as it keeps your hands free for walking/climbing. i think a bag you dont need to be all that portable just needs to be big enough to put different the different tackle boxes in for that day

The biggest problem I have is I always pack way more stuff than I need.
