Sailfish Feeding
Submitted by johno on Mon, 2009-02-23 21:04
Hi All
I just got this from a good mate "Stewart" covering Sailfish on how they feed. If you like me and want to know more about how they feed and hunt, it's worth a look

that was cool
That was awesome to see..,
I have had one opportunity to see one feeding live when I was looking down on one chasing fish from a oil rig I was working on out from Dampier, Man i will never forget that bit of mental footage, seeing him move and turn so quick.....
Fishermen and divers should never work on rigs, the vision hurts your mind....

Fantastic
Sort of make you think about how you could target them up here in Dampier with a non trawl technique?? Find a baitball, match the hatch, cast and pray. Would beat the pushers, Pakula, daisy chain teasers, trawling, pull up all lines etc stuff that normally go with chasing these missiles of the sea.
Might just try that with a fly!!

They have banned this technique in competition because there was concern for the sailfish's welfare with deep hooking etc and the potential of death.

Hooks
What about live baiting with inline circle hooks. Surely that's not banned.
