I LUV "KOKS"
ISLAND
There I was Sunday afternoon, near the end of the Demersal Ban, bored, surfing the Fishwrecked site devouring everything it has to offer, some lame guy catching fish on the TV, when I came across a discussion topic posted by Carnovite titled "Cannot Wait".
It was a posting of the forthcoming weeks weather from Shark Bay to Gnarloo. I opened the blog, my heart started racing, jumped out of my chair and rang my mate Grahame in Carnarvon. " I'm coming up next Friday night, were fishing for two days and then I'm driving back home to Perth, A confused response was "OK You Do That, Ill see you and hung up the phone". All of a sudden there were so many things to do. Get the rods & reels ready, jigs, plastics etc etc. Do research on Carnarvon, Bernier & Dorre Island, tha's when I came across KOKS ISLAND. KOKS ISLAND is about 2km north of Bernier Island and about 30nm west of Carnarvon.
A "LONG HAUL" Journey had started to be on my friends boat called " LONG HAUL"
Day 1 - What A COD of a Day
We arrived at Koks Island just after sunrise.
- first drop, busted off and lost my New Pirate Jig on a very Toothy Critter
- second drop busted off and lost my 7" White Gulp to another unstopable
- third drop " Mr Charlie Court" comes on board and Iam starting to think what else
Why don't we move I suggested and the rest is as follows as the pictures show.
Day 2 - "Can It Get Any Better"
Once again we put "Long Haul" in before sunrise and made the journey to the islands, a very gentle w/sw was blowing and Julie was full of expectation as this was a trip she was going to try plastics and jigs. " Got them, never tried them" she said, "well we might just have to change that" I replied. Today we were fishing off the South End of Dorre Island.
- Julie first drop on a white gulp, Nice Red Throat
- Julie second drop a Sambo that didn't get sharked what a work out
- George first drop on my new "HOMEMADE JIG" a 14.5kg Dhuie, YAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOO
- Grahame has had enough grabs Julies rod with the white gulp, hooks into something for twenty minutes then busts off
- Pull out my New Ockta Jig ( Thanks Twitchemup} pulls in a nice baldie
- George 6th drop loose my other Pirate Jig to unstopable ( also trolled and hooked into a Tuna) before I lost the jig.
- George troll a Rapala Deep Diver for the run home and had a huge WAHOO before he threw the hooks at the boat. Dammmmnnnn
- George another Tuna.
All in all a fantastic trip, great company on board the " Long Haul" for the Long Haul back and then the drive home.
What a trip to christen the new Simth 54H and Twinpower SW8000,
YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend
Good to hear your trip was a beauty. Was on the way out on Friday morning and mate got a phone call telling him it was time for him to start work on new job so it was turn round and head home.
Couldn't find a decky for Saturday or Sunday so it was a no go for the weekend untill I got a call from one of the sea rescue base stations that a boat had run out of fuel some 20nm south near Bush Bay.
So it was down to the rescue boat at 1500 and finally home at 2000 with the boat in tow back safey.
Good report, especially the dhuey with a pic, a while back I mentioned in a report that I had got an undersized one off Koks and putit back without taking a picture and got heaps of replies that it wasn't a dhuey but a pearl perch, now lets hear them say thats a pearl perch. Stick it right up them.
Glad to see the forecast was spot on all weekend for once.

Firstly thanks Carnarvonite for alerting me to the weather and your pm advice. The weather changed three or four times during the week as you know. Should I, shouldn't I, Finally the leap of faith and just did it.

Thanks Russ,
It was John(Carnarvonite) who put me onto the weather.

But didn't use them on this trip.
Used Slams on my trip to Exmouth, Broome and Middle Lagoon.
Best Colours Red, White(Translucent), caught Mackies, Cobia on Red, Trevally and Emperors on White, Coral trout on Red.
Always have them as a go to plastic
