Hamilton Island - charters
Submitted by Camo.W on Tue, 2011-01-18 13:46
Hi guys,
Does anyone know of any reputable fishing charters operating out of hamilton island?
Any first hand experience would be great. I'm heading there in march for a conference and we are looking at chartering a boat for us.
Cheers

Renegade Charters
I used Renegade Charters last April. Even though it was a rough day still put me onto some good GT's and mackie. Lunch/drinks provided and the gear was top of the range stellas etc. Link below

Renegade
I went out with these guys last March and didn't think much of them at all. They anvertise all the good shimano gear but only had 4 rods on board so everyone used hand lines. Only caught one tiny red emperor for the trip too.

Thanks guys, It looks like
Thanks guys, It looks like there's only 2 running out of there. Renegade and rapture. Rapture actually advertise using hand lines . Hopefully renegade upgraded their gear after you went out with them dougie, as iceman went a month after you. I'm sure as shit not gonna pay to use handlines that's for sure. I think I'll give them a call and Suss them out before booking anything.

Maybe an alternative?
Hey mate, I have fished with Renegade and had to use handlines as well. Last year while in Airley Beach I fished with these guys... it might be worth giving them a call and seeing if they'll pick you up from Hamilton. Its a guide and not a charter, so he'll troll around for some Mackies, Pop for some GT's and throw slugs at any smaller pelagics. Really nice guys as well

Hopefully that helps mate.

Gday Im getting married
Gday
Im getting married there on the 11 of march and am looking at heading out fishing in the week leading up to it. Was trying to find a big old cray boat that we could a big boys day out but they dont have big boats like that. We are probably going to held out with rapture as they are a bit dearer. In regards to using handlines having lived up there for 8 years it can be easier to pull trout and emperor off the bottom with a handline -
