Fishing at Woroona with levels so low?

Hello. I have just moved to Perth and looking at trying some fresh water fishing within 90minutes of the CBD.

I was looking at the local dams in the area. I have been looking through the past threads and have noticed a lot of people warning about how low the water levels were back in 2009 and how bad fishing might be.
Now that the water level is half that of 2009 does anyone know what the fishing would be like?

If I was in Queensland of South Australia I would know all the local lakes and dams for fish but over here in WA I do not have a clue.

If anyone can offer advice for good freshwater fishing within an hour and a half of Perth, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I wouldn't bother with Waroona dam, better off at Harvey. If you're heading down Waroona way you're probably better off at Drakesbrook weir if you want to catch Redfin, left off southwest hwy on to McLarty rd then right after the golf course. You will get them on lures but they go mad over minnows caught from a creek.

Out of sync with the trout season scorpion1080, but in season I used to get some good rainbows in the Collie River (below Wellington Dam). You can also camp down there at Honeymoon Pool.

I'm no expert mate but I think the river at Dwellingup may be worth a try.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info.

Its hard when you are new to an area.

When I was living back in South Aus, I could probably name every creek, river damn and lake within 30mins which had fish.

Now that I am in Perth, I know nothing so I appreciate any help I can get.

I think tomorrow I am going to go to Dwellingup for a fish.

I would love to go to Harvey but its a heck of a drive for a few hours of fishing during my day off. If I could camp and spend a couple of nights there it would be perfect.

I have also heard some good things about whiting on poppers down near freo. I am not sure where, But I am going to take a drive down and have a look.
