Converting GPS coordinates
Submitted by Jim on Wed, 2026-04-01 21:23
G'day all,
Does anybody know what these types of coordinates are called in the pics?
I also need to convert the Google Earth coordinates type to the other coordinates shown in the other pic?
Tried a couple of online concverters but no joy.
Trying my hand at drone fishing and any help is appreciated
Cheers

What format do you need?
Those coords look like Degree Minutes Seconds. What format to you want to change to?

Conversions
Below are two conversions I can do.
Degree format - 32.136958 S, 115.744636 E
Degree, Seconds format - 32, 8.2175 S, 115, 44.6782 E

Easy conversions
Hey Jim,
Incase you do not want to post all your spots on a public forum (happy if you want to share some
), here is the easiest way to convert coordinates to whatever format you need:
1. Drop the location in Google Earth as you have done,
2. Hit "Tools" and then "Options"
3. Under the first tab "3D View" you will find a few options "Show Lat/Long"
4. Select any of the formats you want and hit Apply/OK
5. Go back to your dropped pin, right click and select properties and just like that you have the new coordinates.
Your original coordinates are in "Degrees, Minutes, Seconds" and the second pic has "Degrees, Decimal Minutes" and "Decimal Degrees"
The coordinate convertion Reefsta has done for you are correct.

Cheers fellas,
I wanted to convert the top photo coords to the bottom photos coords, thanks Gerhard I will give that a shot. Never fished the spots I want to try but I'll put up a pic if it's worthwhile! I just picked that corner at woodies to check if the conversion was accurate.
Thanks

Looks like the Google Earth
Looks like the Google Earth app doesn't have those menu options, might have to dust off the laptop
