fishing buddy

I really dont want this to sound like a personal ad. I dont want a relationship, I just want a fishing buddie who wont let me down at the last minute.

I've got a 17.5ft fiberglass boat, that I struggle to put in & take out on my own.

I've noticed, when you mention to people that you have a boat, they all wanna come fishing. All good & well, but they wanna come when it suits them!!

People I work with wanna come but that's awkward because I'm the boss!!

So I'm really looking for a keen fishing buddy, that has a bit of knowledge of local waters, is prepared to go halves on fuel & bait & is not a arse!!!!!!

Where do you mainly launch and fish from?
I have a boat, but i am sure that there are a few good blokes on this site that may take you up on your offer.

Buddy

Mon, 2008-06-09 19:43

Not looking for a deckie, I'm looking for a buddy I can rely on. Week in, week out (weather permitting).

suss em out

Mon, 2008-06-09 19:52

Start taking a few out and after a while you can choose your deckie and who you get along best with. I know fishcrazy is regularly looking for deckie spot and has own gear/chips in every time.

Some people are available

Mon, 2008-06-09 19:59

Some people are available mid-week, so best bet is to 'trial' some people out then see who you get along with. I can normally take weekdays off as I just juggle the work around (but it depends on the work load :p).  No knowledge of local waters, but a check for all the others. If I cant come it wont be a last minute thing either.

It might help if you stop

Mon, 2008-06-09 20:48

It might help if you stop shouting (bold print)! :)

It's hard to find a deckie that will be free everytime you are, so I suggest that you fish with a few folk and see who you get along with as hlokk said.

Post up when you intend to go about a day or two in advance and if you get a last minute cancellation it's up o you to suss out what the situation is and for you to decide if you are going to select that same person again.

You will find that there is usually no shortage of deckies if the weather is decent or if you want to go ou on a weekend.

Seriously, I appreciate all the advice & I didn't have a clue how to alter the text. But, it seems to have mysteriously sorted itself out.

I am keen

Tue, 2008-06-10 08:30

I would be keen for a fairly regular gig on a boat.  I will be bringing the rest of my gear over by the end of June on my next trip over east.

I am not an arse, like my fishing, help out and work hard on a boat and will chip in with costs.  Don't know the local waters but keen to learn.

Send me a pm and we can tee up some fishing trips if you like.

Gus
