First time on the loop

Headed out to Rotto for a couple of dives today. It had been about ten years and was very nice down there. First time on the loop and found it frustrating to start with. The whites were much easier to get. Second dive was much better. Found a really nice ledge full of crays. Most had tar spots or berried which was frustrating but good to see. Headed home with a good feed for our efforts. Loved the dive and the hunt which was something different. Cheers to JB, Browny and Lynds. Lots of other crew out there as well. Checked by fisheries at the ramp which was also good to see.

Hi

we started in about 5-8mts for the first dive. Plenty of crays around but quite hard to get out of holes and the sea weed was quite thick in parts. Second dive in 15 metres which was much nicer. We found more crays here under some good ledges and small caves that we could get into. Water was excellent and I stopped looping halfway through the second dive to enjoy the fish life and surrounds. Gotta love Rotto for sure. Yep, on scuba. Just like riding a bike. Cheers Dave

Man, love that new rig. We had two brilliant dive over there. Looks like you cleaned up as usual. Have fun getting into some decent fish on your rig.

Great report!

And what a day for it! I really have to dust off the dive gear and get back into it...not a big cray eater but I find the whole looping exercise both relaxing and exhilarating at the same time, and end up giving almost all my catch away to family/friends/workmates.

Just an aside...if memory serves, you're meant to do the deeper dive first, although nitrogen buildup from 5-8m would be very minimal.

Not sure I have it Sussex mate. Thanks for the tips, they came in very handy. Pretty funny on the loop. Three out of four were put back, so got plenty of practice. Found some big suckers but they were too good for me.

Hope to be down your way soon.

Dave
