Guess your referring to the bloke in FNQ that picked up the shells and put them in his speedos because he didnt have pockets. One had a blue ring inside and he was promptly bitten. His mates did CPR on him for something like 10+ hours before finally getting him to medical help. Survived just fine.

Apparently they took these
Apparently they took these shots then went back to the mainland to show the locals the occys. Locals quickly told them to chuck them back. Very lucky they didnt die

apparently they are available

Nasty little critters
But cute as. The carry the same toxin as puffer fish, and the Japanese eat Fugo. It is called tetradotoxin and is a pretty damn good muscle relaxant/paralyser just about as toxic as Botulinum, better known as Botox.
It paralysis everything but leaves your senses untouched, so you hear, feel, see (some blurring from the paralysis of the eyes Ciliary muscles) etc. Even when someone looks dead breathing for them with Mouth to mouth will save a life. The heart is not effected initially until the oxygen level falls low, and well bluntly then you are FCKD. People recovering tells nice stories about how people speak whilst rescuing them. Comments like he stuffed etc etc is heard as clear as day, but there is bugger all the victim can do about it.
So if you ever (and it is rare) get bitten, or have to treat someone just keep going with Mouth to mouth until specialised help arrive, and then you are truely a hero.

That is some good advice there for those unfamiliar with our dangerous little critters. Maybe we should have a list of first aid/ remedies for all of our different bities!
