I seriously doubt its as

I seriously doubt its as strong and reliable as they make it out to be. Note they say 100% connection, not 100% connection strength.

Though, pretty bulky as well, and of course you cant have 2m of leader and cast a lure.

I always use a bimini to gt

Sat, 2010-11-13 16:28

I always use a bimini to gt (takes a long time, but its strong)

Another knot, which takes literally 30 seconds to tie ( if not less) and is strong, is this one--------

Make a double with your braid line and hold in one hand, grab your mono leader in the other band. wrap the braid double around the mono (about 7 times), then place the end of the mono tag through the eye of the double on the braid. Pull tight. and trim the tags.

Its also very slim

Saw this on ABC on the New Inventors, didn't think it would be all that good on there either.

Yucatan Knot

Sat, 2010-11-13 16:50

The knot you describe John is  the Yucatan Knot

See link below;

Great knot I finish it off with half a hitch as I have had one slip.

Similar to Tony Jones leader knot......I have had a few slip, not as slim as a GT. I use GT now.

Now using FG Knot, Braid to Mono

Sat, 2010-11-13 16:55

Have been practising the FG Knot.

So far all the braid that I have tested has broken way before the knot.

The Braid went to the recommended lbs, so at this point I feel this knot could be close to 100% breaking strain.

Tested the braid using a set of scales.

Also passes easily through the guides.

Mon, 2010-11-15 18:26

i've only ever used a double uni knot, but that's only for squidding and chasin bream and flatties.

it's never failed me, probably because ive never caught anything big enough to really test it haha

I use the slim beauty knot

Mon, 2010-11-15 19:13

I use the slim beauty knot for most of my braid to mono connections.. hasnt slipped on me once and its fairly easy to tie. Here is a vid of it being tied.
