Matt did you make it out side the mouth at Walpole? If so which is the best spot to take your boat out thru there?? Always been worried about the rocks on the right hand side and to shallow on the other side?? cheers
Stay to the right hand side about 10 mts out it was nearly two metres all the way out, take it easy, go through once slow and use your polarised glasses and you will work it out.
The caravan park bloke reckons behind goose island(back out from saddle island) it drops off to 50 mts, and look for the ledges. In our boat it was virtually unfishable as the winds/swell came up virtually every time we went out. Drift speed was high so we pretty much always ended up on the eastern side of saddle island in the lee.
Cheers mate. When i was down there last year..i was a bit suss on going thru as i didnt know what was lurking under the surface. Im heading down there Jan 8 for a week..so i will give it a go then..thanks

we did go out, and it was flat as at the mouth

I was stoked as I had only seen it look shitty.
Small pinkys and wrasse, two harlequin fish on whiting frames/heads.

bloody good fish curry
my other mates came down after matt and we had them one night. Fish held its flavour in the curry, and also its firm flaky texture.

plenty of big boats get out through the mouth.
there is good channel markers but one needs to go slow as it is shallow,
once out no problem
like eveything it depends on weather but we have been out in a 4m hornet no problems so your boat will be sweet.
some deep water not far out
