You can drift anywhere over weed at moment and bag out! not bad ground you have circled but if you travel a bit further and bit deeper (im loving 12m) you'll find some woppers! Got 42cm tube the other day. The others werent far behind ;)
Good to see theres plenty of good ground up North of the river you don't hear a lot about squidding up there,, Cockburn Sound and other places seem to dominate the reports,,
42 cm is a fantastic size Joe ,,does anybody throw the really big ones back, some folks believe the bigguns don't taste as good ?
Most of mine are between 15cm -30 cm tubes squidding south of the river,, but the next time i get a monster i will probally consider letting them go,,
Apparently once they reach a large size they no longer have any breeding cycles left and will likely die within the next few months so I would just tenderize the big bastard and have a calamari fiesta
They all taste the same just need to cook them a little more. Squid are one of the only speices where it is better to take the big ones over the small ones.
Just have a look at the latest NearMap images - pick the weed beds and go for it. Squid are everywhere over weed. I prefer the shallower water 3-6m as easier to get the jigs down to them on the drift.
