Yeah it can be a pain sometimes. When I first got it the motor would turn 1st turn of the key cold or hot. Since the first service its OK when hot but first thing in the morning it can sometimes be a problem to start and is smokey. Had the second service done at another place but doesnt seem any different.
BTW I take it your boat has fullysik written on the stern on the rhs of the motor. Saw you drive off at Peron last Sunday.
did no good thou ,went out to 90 mtrs ,mine has done 140 hrs and already done a starter motor lucky was under warrenty, mine starts ok it s when out deep it plays up ,chews up a bit of fuel also,
cheers ray
ps get mine service now by arthur page in rocky does a good job
Sounds a bit thirsty as I probably only went thru a bit over 100 litres to go to the fads behind rotto and do some trolling back to the 90s behind SW bank into the bank back out to the 90's and then in.
hi tim,
i have the same boat and motor had it for 12 months now and i was just wandering were you got your clears done?,i havent got any yet and when its a bit windy we get bloody wet!
how do you like your boat ? i think they handle really well and glad i went for the genesis.
Thats one of the problem with the allys they dont throw the water away that well. Had it 18 mths and still like it. Bit of a rough ride at times but it does what it was bought for.
Had the clears done when I got the boat but have since added the 2 flaps in the front clear to minimise the amount of water that comes in (I like to have it open as much as possible and these stop the deckie getting drenched). Also added a rear shade which makes it heaps better on these hot days.
You might have to get a sticker for the back now so I can spot you on the water.
Andy Mac has one well that says it all!
The legendary fisherman himself, so it cant be all that bad. I would consider getting one myself if I buy ALI next time.
that sticker fits great on the back of the bait board, were would i get a sticker from? thanks andy ill ring around tommorrow .
the genesis would have to be one of the best made ally boat in WA
i went to all the the builders in perth and had a good look at there work shops and the genesis would have to be the best set out work shop and neatly finished off welds then the others.
i was lucky enough to go and see my boat getting built every 2nd day
and take pictures as it was just up the road from me.(thanks paul)
Yeah will have to get around to getting a sticker my self, perhaps a pair of the big ones. One for each side of the boat, just need the spare dollars as it dips into my bait and fuel money!
I fluke a couple of Dhuies in a row and now I'm a legend woo hoo!
Tim, when I bought my boat 5 years ago it was one of the first hulls they had in production (a few minor issues but a great hull). It was the actual display boat at the Perth Boat Show back then and they threw in the canopy extender too and a removeable bench seat. I had the extended canopy up for the first 12 months but found that it kept getting in the way with the rods when you bring a fish in, having to remember to duck it under the canopy without spearing the deckie fishing along side you was difficult.
The other thing I found a pain was getting to the rocket launcher when that was up. We tend to change gear over a fair bit with different species so I was forever having to stand on the gunnels and reach over to change rods. In the end I took it down and now only ever put it up if I have the wife and kids onboard and we are put putting down the river.
Havent had a problem with that Andy. The extended canopy isnt the full width or length of the deck so it doesnt get in the way even if someone was high sticking the rod. It has a zippered area where it meets the rocket launcher to get the rods in and out that I find ok.
Didnt bother with the rear seat thou. Got the brackets welded in but didnt bother with the seat as I carry a 105 ltr tropical esky which doubles as the rear seat.
Just got to change the ladder as the stock one isnt worth anything. If your diving or snorkeling out the back its not long enough and the round rungs are no good for water logged feet. Only a minor issue.
The issue with my ladder is that it sits on top of the scupper so if you want to open the scuppers you have to first lift the ladder up a bit and then rest it back down. Could have been made a few inches shorter and it would have been brilliant.
Otherwise I love my boat and have ridden in quite a few allys in my time and it would have to be one of the sweetest rides.
Oh and one more thing I don;t like the anchor well that much or the dash (but I'm over that now). Choosing a boat is all about compromising and knowing what is important to you. For me it was fishing deck space and ride comfort. Everything else was secondary.
Its a couple more Dhuies than Tim or I have seen on our boats to date. So as far as I am concerned your obviously doing something right that we could improve on.
Anyway I have to be nice to you older fellas Andy
James
THE LAZY FISHERMAN
I can tell you Andy they havent fixed that problem with the scupper.
Dont have a problem with the anchor well as I had a twin roller bow sprit fitted and a stainless bollard with the spring loaded pin to lock the anchor in. (Dont really use it anyway).
The only problem I have with the dash is that theres a few too many corners for dirt and salt too build up in.
I bought the boat for exactly the same reason 2.4m beam in a 5.5m boat gives you heaps of fishing room. Ride comfort was the area where I compromised against the glass boats for the extra room and stability.
Andy I went to a few other sites I know that have smilies I like then I right click on them and go save picture as, save them to a file on my computer then upload them onto photobucket as pictures. Once you have them loaded on photo bucket you just copy and paste the IMG code back into your message.
Hope it doesnt sound too complicated!
Oh and wish your Daughter happy 13th B'day! It's all down hill from now, boy trouble, staying out late etc etc
Your a smart fella, mmm, I think I will go and setup a photobucket account and put a heap of smileys in there and link it back to the site for people to use, could be a hell of a lot easier than inputting code!
As for stickers, if you want one, just Private Message me, still got a few left.
You summed it up well there Andy about choosing a boat I'm real happy with my Haines the ride is brilliant but having the cuddy cabin for the kids has lost a lot of deck space I will upgrade to the Haines Hunter 680 patriot in 2 years thats my dream fishing boat .CHEERS SHAG

Didnt see you out there. Sounds like we caught about the same thou.
How many litres would you go thru to get to the 90's and back.

Same as mine (almost)
I have a 5.8m Genesis with a 115hp Mariner on the back. I find for an ally it rides pretty well. Bangs a bit on the cross slop.

I got my clears and canopy done up in Wangara.
Cheers

Almost Andy. The rides not
Almost Andy. The rides not too bad if you drive to the conditions.
I had to go the 5.5 due to only having a Commodore Wagon which is a work car to tow it. Would have liked a bigger one 6m+.
Maybe an upgrade??

Hey Jimbo, how did you get the smileys to work?
That last sentence should read "much older fellas". I'm feeling my age this evening after witnessing my daugter's thirteenth birthday.
