Chook
Gavin “Chook” Daniels weighed in a genuine 30kg Spaniard during week. The big mack was taken in 16m of water at Tantabiddi out of a 4.2m dinghy. It took a 7m deep diving Halco Laser Pro and despite using 80lb braid still gave “Chook” and his deckie Rick plenty of grief when it came to the boat. Gavin and his catch are pictured this week with the scales proving the fishing story.

holy sheeeeet!!!!!!!!!
now thats a BIG momma mackie. Ryan got one one on 10 kg's when we were up there recently that bottomed out 25kg scales, but jeez, that fish there makes Ryans look small.(No disrespect Ryan, but you gotta agree, that is a true MONSTER).

Dreamin
Getting one that big, very unlikely, maybe it does happen but its secret squirells business thats for sure. We do get a few come through late summer early autumn, but only half that size generally from what I've seen.

Local mackies
I was able to sink the gaff into a reasonable local mackie a few months ago, aboard Ryans boat, estimated at in excess on 25kg. If you want more info on this, refer to Nick's *ahem* article in this months FWA.
So yeah, we do get em quite big down this way, but havn't senn, nor heard of any any where near the size of that horse...

25kg
Was it that big? Might have to go and have a look see again, remember seeing it, but didn't think it was anywhere near the size of the horse above. Oh well, you do get them big down this way, but just not very common.

The big one we got out there
The big one we got out there wasn't pictured in the article, see ryan if ya want to have a look, i think he's still got the pics. Ryan lost one at the boat earlier that day that would have been some where 15-20kg. And i think i heard Nick mention he's got some pretty speccie big local mack footage coming up in an episode this summer....

Well that is for sure a
Well that is for sure a monster mackie.
The biggest one for us so far is 66.77 lbs. How or what is the difference in KG and LBS ??
Where would be the best place to fish for monster macks and what time of year over your way.
Tight Lines to ya all

Welcome Lured Away (Bobby)
A 66lb Mack is pretty big mate, say 30Kg, which is an awesome fish. To put that in perspective my best is only 17kgs, but that was caught in Perth metropolitan waters which makes it a little special, given we don't get too many Macks down this way.
If you are looking for top quality fishing you can't go past Exmouth in my book for big Mackies and a large variety of Pelagic fish, Blue & Black Marlin, Wahoo, Sailfish, its got the lot.
Exmouth has a fishing comp in March called Gamex, which is right bang smack in the middle of some of the best fishing periods. Having said that Exmouth is full of fish most times throghout the year but does blow up a bit with wind between now and December.
Some of the other guys that have a bit more experience with Exmouth gamefishing will be able to offer a far more accurate guide to peak fishing times.
As I said welcome aboard. Where abouts are you from and what sort of fishing do you get into besides the big mackies?
We always welcome new fish pics , so we'd love to see your 66 pounder if you get a chance to post it up along with any other meritorious capture, big or small it doesn't matter.
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Thanks for the welcome guys. I am posting a few pictures of some fish we have caught here in Texas. The first picture is a 24 lb. Red Snapper.
Here is an 84 lb. Wahoo
Here is a picture of my largest mackie to date, 66.77 lb.
Here is our team truck and boat.
A picture of the boat running at 60 mph. The boat is a 38 ft. Donzi with triple 275 Mercury Verados.

Awesome Rig there Bobby!
I bet thing flies with triple 275hps to push it along.
Makes my little tinny look like a V Dub next to a Ferrari.
And that's a big mackie to go with it.
That Red snapper looks very much like our Red Emporer which grow up to about 15kgs from memory. Looks like some top tucker for the table too.
Cheers

Unreal Bobby!
Mmmmmate, that is one sexy setup! Can you tell us more about the professional fishing circuit over in Texas?
Yep, that Red Snapper looks a lot like a Red Emperor in my book, probably just as tasty too. Some great photo's there, very envious indeed. :)
Cheers,
Adam
