jap blanks
I'm not sure you can get the blanks? Try Oriental Angler for good prices though.
Its a bit misleading, but Yamaga Blanks don't sell blanks, its just in the name so that you realise they actually make them instead of contract them out, like a lot of other jap brands.
I wonder when Shimano will update the Stella, the last update was 2008 perhaps, so not sure I'd expect any changes for 2011?

Yamaga is the parent company
Yamaga is the parent company of Ripple Fisher. Ripple fisher is their premium range of rods but Yamaga also do their own range which are also exceptional rods but aimed more towards a budget conscious user. You can't buy blanks from either Ripple or yamaga, only pre-constructed rods.

Have used Ripple Fisher but
Have used Ripple Fisher but not Yamaga (although I have seen them in the flesh). Both are really good it just depends how much you want to spend. If you have money to burn go with Ripple. I think they have a better range for GT fishing too.

Any reason you want the long
Any reason you want the long cast? I wouldn't go for that unless you were primarily land based fishing. By the way, get the stella 18000 not the 20000.

Different gear ratios; one
Different gear ratios; one fast for popping, the other slower for jigging.
