Withnell Point DHI camping
Hi all - first post, looking forward to some of the great advice I've been seeing on this site.
Heading to DHI end of April. Last time I took Louisa Bay - but I had my highly modified old Jayco then, now its just tents, trailer and 7 other people who are new to camping/fishing. So I thought I'd do Withnell Point this time cos the hut will provide some respite from wind if we get it (mind you April is often good) and some solid ground beneath their feet.
OK, the questions:
1. From memory, the ground around the shack where we will set up tents is not deep sand - its rather hard packed. Can someone advise if this is the case?
2. Fishing anywhere in Louisa Bay was very productive all day - does Withnell Point have any good fishing ground or do we need to go up to Sammys or back to Louisa?
3. Turtle Bay is close, but there seems to be a sanctuary there now? Can anyone confirm and give details?
4. I seem to recall that between the top end of Sammy's and Turtle Bay there is a serious drop off (I can't see it on Google Earth) - is this reachable by kayak? Any instructions on where it is appreciated.
Any advice on the above much appreciated?
Cheers
Grant

Late April is good
Hey Rob
I have been up before back in 2005 - end of April. Stunning - perfect weather every day, light breezes. We're beach and kayak people and we had the best fishing ever from Louisa and Sammy's. We stopped for a visit at Withnell, but I didn't take that much notice of the camping conditions.
We're going over on the barge on the 23rd of April - If you're on the same day, catch you then!
Hope you have a great time up there!
