Winch Line ...What types best

Hi guys , currrently have approx 6mm nylon plaited rope pulling up a 21ft heavy glass boat on to the trailer, it's just starting to fray a little getting caught on the cog sometimes...

anyway what are you guys using rope , seatbelt or wire ...presume wires the strongest and longer lasting, just not as hand friendly ...thanks in advance ...cheers chris

is by far the strongest and longest lasting but is also the most expensive but once you have used it you would never buy the other 2 again the seat belt strap is absolute shit that just doesnt last and the wire slightly better and will last longer but is not hand friendly as you say

just googled it up ...99% sure it's the same as existing rope I have ...for 6mm rope I was surprised it had a 4900kg loading, thats strong rope...and the seatbelts no good and rather stay away from wire...so yeah , I think Spectra it is...thanks mate

Spectra. Stronger than steal, lighter but ???$$$.

I would never go back either. Basically it is braid in a thicker section.

I've been pulling my 21' glass boat up for years and no problem...unless it gets caught in the gears then it's screwed.

Cut the rope off behind the frayed bit and tie another knot save the dollars and only lose 20 cm or so.
