Where did we end up over WA Day?

So did anyone get out adventuring over the long weekend - where did you end up from where you started?

I started at Karratha and headed to Marble Bar for a frothy at the Ironclad and then found a hidden away billabong 30km from town to camp for the night.  Ventured out to Woodie Woodie and Carrawine gorge and pushed through skull springs road through to Nullagine and found a nice camping spot on the Nullagine river.  Never really been that far into the back country - bloody nice time of year for it.

Took off Friday up Cape

Tue, 2017-06-06 08:24

Took off Friday up Cape Leveque road to a place called Gumbanan bush camp. Too windy for the roof topper but threw a few twisty's for a couple of long toms, bit of cricket and footy with the mates kids and relaxed with a few beers around the camp fire. Great spot to relax with basic facilities.

Netball

Netball Western Australia Associations State Championships at the State Netball (Matthews) Centre with the U12 Daughter.  Holy f&*k, that thing is massive.

Pretty impressed with how it was all run though, and a credit to the organisers.  No fishing or camping for me.

I worked the first 3 hours, then caught a bus to the Hay River Terminal, had to wait an hour for the barge to unload, caught a ferry across the river to Humbug Terminal, another bus to Weipa airport, flight from Weipa to Cairns. Had a 3 hour wait, so a visit to Hungry Jacks and then 3 pints of yaks in the airport bar. Flight from Cairns to Brisbane. Couple of hours wait for my flight to Perth, plane delayed for nearly an hour. Finally landed in Perth at 00:20. Long weekend all over, home by 01:30.

30km West of Brookton, free

Tue, 2017-06-06 12:41

30km West of Brookton, free camping on a 107 acre Sheep Farm. A few dams on the farm but apparently no yabbies.

Second camp for the 4.5m old little fella and we discovered he is a very light sleeper.

Sat Golf, Margies course and holy fuck its no wonder it won the best regional GC for the state this year in the condition its in...

Sunday went squidding up in Busso with the missus and 2.5yr old, pulled up at my usual haunt and nailed 4 bewts straight away and then the 3 knot Noreaster dropped and the bay was a sheet of glass...

Ruined the drift, I think its the only time in my life i've wished for wind while fishing... Ended up with a half a doz before bailing back to Gracetown for a surf....

Monday dodging traffic on the way to Perth and back up to work......
