depends on situation
presently I have two combo's.
650 Alvey with Butterworth rod (purchased in mid 1980) but still strong.
6-9.5kg original gutsbutt ugly stick matched with a 6000 penn.
thinking of another eggbeater combo though.

Maybe a little undersized bu
Maybe a little undersized bu lately my favourite outfit is a 2500 diawa teirra and matching teirra rod. Have to use the waves to wash the salmon up onto the beach but its a lot of fun..

13 foot Redback (the best value beach rod around)
and a Daiwa Emcast Sport 4500.
14 foot Daiwa Moonraker matched with a Abu Garcia Soron or Shimano Stradic.
13 foot Live Fibre OH matched to a Daiwa Saltist
Have a lot more surf rods and reels, but not necessarily matched as combos

Mach 7 -7?
Isn't that Morey? Science Mike Stewart sounds better
. I rate the fins though, but wearing Pods 3 at the moment.
Combo: Shimano Starlo Stick with Shimano Sienna. 14lb Braid. Does the job, with the rays on the other hand. No chance!

Yep, Morey board.
But we are talking like 1993/1994. It was the shizznit until they released the Mach 8TX with the dimple bottom.
Still have it - with no creases.

Ozflex
Mate iv'e got one about 12 13ft-ill check the serial no for you. It is an awesome rod very strong but light enough to csat lures for hours. Talked me brother into buying one so he got the same model, but the timber butt is heaps heavier and as a result not as good to cast with.

Ozflex shimano
I have a 13ft Ozflex and a shimano TSS4 reel with 30lb fireline. The rod is light enough to cast lures for hours. I use it for everything from Salmon down southcoast, westcoast tailor and mulloway, to whatever jumps on me line up north.
If you want a cheap(about $150) reel the TSS1V are great reels with high speed retrieve.

Oldies but goodies
Heavy=9144Butterworth with high and low mounts, use it for ballooning with a Shimano charter special or Alvey 650c5 deep spool.
Others=8144 and 8132 Butterworths for beach or spinning with Abu 7000's or 499 Mitchells.
Rods are over 20 years old and have been rebuilt more than once but have paid for their keep many many times over with the biggest from the rocks being a 68lb spaniard and a 62lb mulloway and from the beach a grey nurse about 9 foot[released]and oodles of good ones down to a double header of salmon years back.
