What do you want to see?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2008-07-22 18:08
Righteo guys, for this weekend we have an underwater tow camera, 2 u/w vid cams, 1 u/w camera, 2 digi slr's, 1 high def vid cam and one standard vid cam. What would you guys like to see?? We also have dive tanks and plan to do a trout bombie dive? Will be a while before all the footage and photos are compiled etc, but is there anything you want to see more than anything else or would even pay to see on a dvd at high quality?
Cheers,
Adam

rankins and trout
Rankins and trout we can probably do on the dive, red's might be pushing it as the deeper water makes it hard to dive (also current). Still haven't got a trout on popper and getting it on footage might be hard, but the challenge sounds good. Any more ideas out there?
Its ok Matt, I'm only going out Friday and Sat, the rest look a bit windy.

Fish feeding
... I've always wanted to know what is actually going on down there when I'm fishing...
So how bout putting some of your mates onto some good ground, and then filming the fish...
Be interested to see what fish do - do they come up and check the baits out and bugger off... Do the small fry come over first, pick away and then the big boys come in and nudge them away? How do diff fish react?
Alternatively you could always find a nudist beach... could be interesting...

Sounds good
We tried to get good footage of me feeding the red bass and rankins at the Murions last time, they just kept eating it too fast thou and the boys on the tanks were too keen to pat the estuary cods. Ahh well, will try the burley thing again and sure we will be able to get some footage of a mackie taking a lure, well, will try anyway.

Adam.
How about a section on how to read your sounder. You could find some good ground and show what it represents using the sounder and under water camera at the same time. Showing what reef bommies, weed and flat coral looks like. Just a thought.

reading sounder
Would like to do the reading sounder bit, but my b/w unit isn't exactly top notch, does relatively tell me what's down there. I just wait for that shiver feeling, then I know we will be on good fish, its usually pretty accurate for billfish. Last Wednesday with the Faulkners was the first time I've been bottom bouncing since the start of April!

Adam, Despite your sounder
Adam,
Despite your sounder limits I reckon the idea of sounder pic vs whats actually down below would be great to see.
Great thinking Three Lions

With the tow camera, cut
With the tow camera, cut through a bait school being smashed up by what ever.
Dump burley and float a cam near it - move boat away and record what comes in - hopefully not a hungry Tiger (I accept no responsibility for loss of camera)
Feeding a big moray eel - people will love that. Just watch those fingers - they can be quick. Been bit a couple of times, but got some pics.
Playing with a sea snake can be interesting.
I teamed up with Ben King (ex Chivers Marine) who did an article for FWA a year + ago showing sounder pics and pics I took directly below - worked well. Really need the colour sounder though.

Have fun.

Record straight to a HDD
Record straight to a HDD video deck and use the deck to burn. It will not be computer compatible for editing, but top quality, true 1080.
