what braid?

hi everyone,

so heres the thing, im in the process of spooling up my luvias 3000 da-custom with some braid, but im not too sure on what type of braid i should get. im thinking of going somewhere around 20-30lb. i will be using it for light jigging, bottom bouncing up to lets say 40-50m, and casting.

I was thinking of sunline pe2 (20lb) or some varivas avani light jigging pe2 (33lb) but then i thought i could just get some berkley whiplash 30lb.

with the sunline and varivas i could probably get just under 300m with minimal backing and with the whiplash i could get probably double that as its very thing.

any suggestions will be great.

whiplash should be pretty

whiplash should be pretty good mate. most of my friends use it for when they head out for jigging and drifting and it seems to have worked fine. and as you mentioned you would be able to get more line on ur luvias cos whiplash is thin.

If you are prepared to fork out the extra dollars, I've heard very good reports on verivas

"Varivas" is a top shelf Jap

"Varivas" is a top shelf Jap brand and come with top shelf prices. You dont really need it. There are better value braids around and as mentioned Whiplash is one of them. I use them and have not had any troubles with them at all, including landing an 8ft Spinning Whaler on 80lb over oyster encrusted terrain.

The Sunline Super PE is highly recommended but 20 or 30lb you are gonna put your reel to the limit and over. The Luvias 3000 is not a very big reel, probably wouldnt recommend for bottom bouncing. Light jigging is fine as you jig with little weight compare to a snapper sinker. I'd say max 20lb braid on the Luvias 3000, otherwise if you want to fish heavier I'd suggest going to a 4000 size reel.
