What are my options
So about two months ago a fella advertises custom made paternoster rigs on FB for a pretty good price, twisted droppers etc so thought I might grab a few as I sometimes can't be arsed making them. So we have a discussion and he says send the money and I'll have the rigs the following week. Anyway about two weeks pass and nothing so I message him saying I'm a bit annoyed as I was hoping to use them over Xmas.
Message back with an apology and he would have a few out to me to keep me going over Xmas, a week later nothing. More messaging and he assures me he sent them. Fast forward to a couple of weeks after Xmas and I'm getting pissed off by this stage, more apologies from him and excuses of sore hands from carpal tunnel etc any way he assures me he has all the rigs done and he has sent them two weeks later nothing. So two supposed parcels have gone missing in the post yeah right. I know he has the address correct as I checked the message I sent himwith that. I have threatened him with reporting him to the police with fraud or naming and shaming on FB.
Anyway he insinuates that I might have possibly recieved them and am trying to scam my money back WTF!! Why in hell would I go to all that effort. Last couple of communications he was going to refund my money of course that hasn't happened, now he won't return my messages.
I'm just looking for some opinions on options of what to do about this prick, report to cops (who I'm sure are busier with more important things) or name and shame him on FB?

I have a similar issue with boat speakers I bought off Gumtree for $85. Communication ceased after I told him they don't work and tried to make arrangements to return them and get my money back. Going to now send my account details and demand a refund by a certain date or else I'll be dropping around.

i had a fraud situation with an ebay seller a few years ago and when i reported it to the cops they said it will
get handed to their fraud department but nothing usually happens unless their is lots of complaints against the
same person and then it might get a case number and be investigated. i was lucky and after about 8 months
it got a case number and the guy ended up doing jail time over some pretty major frauds. it could be worth reporting
just incase so that it is recorded but i would name and shame also

Probably telling you how to suck eggs Andy, but in future get the guy selling you something to send you a paypal invoice. If he's doing it as a small business type of arrangement (and is ridgy didge) its piece of cake to set that up.
To be honest he sounds like he's scamming you and there's a few bad eggs doing that.

one thing tho , i have trouble trusting my own rigs let alone someone elses . unfortunately its a lesson learnt .

He should have the receipt for the postage. Everything is now logged and traceable with AUS Post. Ask for the postal receipt and tracking number. If he can't do that then they have never been sent. Ask him to provide the proof that AUS post delivered as they will have the tracking details to say so. As you know, i make all of the rigs for the boys. Twisted pat. Happy to make you some to make you smile. It is simple, ask for the proof. Good luck mate.

My suggestion is you are done over , the cops will do nothing , just rack one up to experience.
If you just want to feel slightly better , somehow contact him and let him know you are from a long line of gypsys and have
placed a curse on him to never caught a decent fish again until those rigs are sent.
Fisher folk are suspicous by nature and even if he thinks it could affect him , you may get those rigs.
Alternatively fire bomb his car and attack him with 3 mates , your choice!!!!

Ask him to send you a pic of the rigs so you have some level of confidence that they are for real. Then he might hopefully take a pic with his smartphone with gps enabled. Then reveal his GPS cords from the exif info and knock on his door... or threaten to reveal his location.

That's a very generous offer Michael and thank you, the main reason I ordered these one's is that he had a pic up and they really looked the part, snelled option etc. I was also flat out up until Xmas doing a reno on our holiday house ensuite and also flat out at work so no time to myself to make any rigs up and get ready for the season. So I've pretty well caught up with it all now and managed to sit down during the big Xmas blow and make up a heap (beers in hand of course) appreciate the thought

Name and shame the bastard, if I see his name crop some where them may be an embarrassing shouting session in his face will embarrass him into doing rigs or refund. I'm past the age of being able to physically encourage him to do the right thing.
