Well done fisheries

Just spent this arvo/ night fishing down the river.

Noticed some guys catching undersized crabs and keeping them. They "wernt australian" and didnt speak a work of english so i thought i would ring fishwatch ph: 1800 815507

The lady took my details and within 30min i had fisheries officer ringing my mobile saying they were coming down. Not long after they did rock up and walked strait up to the guys and went through there stuff. They gave them a good lecture chucked the undersized crabs back and looked like they got some warnings or fines.

I acually think that the offenders didnt know the sizes etc but now they do.

It was really good to see them come out and responding to the calls..

Well done!!!!!

Take down that number and if you see anything suspicious or people doing the wrong thing then call them

i was at a fishing shop the other day, and was getting a few new crab nets. i noticed they (fisheries) have a pamphlet on crab rules and measuring, etc printed in what looked like vietnamese, and some other asian languages.  now not knowing the rules should be no excuse, and these ungrateful fucks should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

good work on the phonecall.

You know

Fri, 2011-01-21 09:17

what they say;

You can swim all day in the Sea of Knowledge and still come out completely dry.

I think a lot of people choose to be dry when it comes to our great land, therefore we need to increase the penalties regardless if it's their first time or not.

The trouble with you Scotto, you are not able to articulate a logical argument without showing everyone what a Racist, Redkneck Biggot you are, that has some serious issues.

Law breakers are not confined to race, There are a lot of, as you call them  "Ungrateful Fucks" that are not Asian.

As Adam G has posted in other blogs " This Forum" should be about everyone having their say however let's take two and think about what we post and how.

dont you ever pull the race card on me again, you pathetic uneducated knuckle-dragger. you are the one that is implying racism. "ungrateful fucks", was aimed at the lawbreakers, not the asians.  read a little bit further between the lines, and make sure you are are 100% correct before you jump to any more conclusions.

your ascertion that i was having a go at asians obviously implies that you are the one that has race related problems, and if you arent ready to interpolate with other cultures, then there is no place for you in this country, or todays society.

at least you got half your forum name right, you dog.

Wow, you have some lame comebacks. "taking you to town bitch"? Seriously? What is it that you are so desperately overcompensating for?

And i'm quite aware of what the word interpolate means, and also aware that you're using it wrong. Perhaps you should get an education? (But then, most educators would probably realise thats futile).

Fri, 2011-01-21 20:20

Pretty quick to pull out the racist card there abledog. Seems whenever this post comes up on a forum (about every 2-3 months) the finger gets pointed at a certain race and the PC crew try and and be the first to call someone a racist.

In my eyes thats a pretty harsh thing to call someone, is there some underlying problems stemming back from your childhood? You dont know scotto and he doesnt know you, how would you feel if he just blurted out on the internet that you were a necrophiliac? Pretty harsh

Apart from the swear words in scottos original post, I cant see any red necked, bigoted statements. All scotto said was that fisheries now print crabbing pamphlets in a couple of asian languages  and that there are no excuses for getting caught.

"ungrateful fucks" is just scottos no bullshit, calls it as he sees it attitude that you dont see too much of these days because of the political correctness police ready to slam anything you do or say. ( It's not my fault thats how your daddy and daddy raised you)

Fri, 2011-01-21 10:28

Tailor Marc, truly a great civic duty you performed. I hope that this great civic duty was not overshadowed by the comment 'They "wernt australian" and didnt speak a work of english so i thought i would ring fishwatch'. I have two questions,

First: How do you know they were not Australian?

Second: Would you have called fisheries if they were of a caucasian descent and spoke english?

If I was of an Asian descent and reading this I would be horrified at a couple of the remarks made (Abledog covered one already). I think the truly great thing about this country is our ability to accept others. I have witnessed people of all descents taking undersized fish and more than their Quotas. I don't like seeing people pigeonholed. It is only education that will improve peoples attitudes, however some people will need to be penalised to get the point across.

My two cents

Yes they were asian and YES i

Fri, 2011-01-21 11:21

Yes they were asian and YES i would of rang fisheries if they were aussies.

I also at the time let fisheries know that a couple people on the jetty were using undersized tailor as live bait and they were more aussie than me and im as bogan aussie as you can get.

I have also rang fisheries on aussies down rocko jetty few months back . Nothing to do with race but its obvious that alot of people that come to this country justt grab fishing gear and go fishing without checking laws .

Heck i have even been pulled up on something i didnt know was wrong by fisheries and not that i know , i will never do it again. I was about 10yrs back i was using bait chasers and fisheries came up and told me i was using to many hooks and to cut a few off. I had no idea at the time but now i know. Its the best way to learn

My comment " They "wernt Australian" was better than writing "japanese" becase i was avoiding this being directed at asians

As said before i have seen , aussies, italians etc doing the wrong thing so its not directed at a race

Most my mates are either asian, aboriginal, etc and i will tell you now that asians are some of the nicest and respectful people in the world.

Doent matter if they are white, black yellow, they are taking undersized crabs and doing the wrong thing

Always someone trying to turn this into a racial debate and taking the focus away from the real problem

Fri, 2011-01-21 11:27

Tailor Marc,

I am not trying to actually turn this into a race debate, merely trying to educate you as you educate people on laws relating to fishing. My comment about "asians" was more directed at Scotto. If you had have left that comment like this " Noticed some guys catching undersized crabs and keeping them, so i thought i would ring fishwatch ph: 1800 815507, race never would have entered into it and the same point would have been made. Just trying to show you that an offhanded comment can take on a meaning that you may not intend.

Once again though I think what you did was fantastic as I am all for leaving fish for my childrens children. I hope you dont take offence as I implore you to keep doing what you do!

No dramas nightfish, yeah the comment "Wernt australian" was more placed in my post to bring awarness that there is a higher percentage of people new to this country wether they are asian, european, african that dont know our laws and its starting to become a joke that the words not getting across.

Seeing fisheries onto it strait away was so impressive and to be honest i acually hope that they just got a warning but with fisheries out there like this more often it wont take long for everyone including aussies to learn .

No offence taken ;)

I have read a number of your posts and you should be commended on your caring attitude to our fisheries and the enviroment.

This in my opinion has always shone through your messages.

I, like others on this forum, are getting sick of certain people slagging off about this person or that, this race or that.

I was at Lancelin over Xmas & New Year, took the tinnie over to Lancelin Island which is a Complete Bird Sanctuary, therefore No Dogs.

A group of young guys and girls had taken a Jack Russell dog over to the island and it was chasing the birds as they were landing, I couldn't stand it any longer so I went over to them and said "Hey Guys you realise this is a Bird sanctuary" to which they replied "Are you the Fuckin Police" to which I replied "Yeah the Dickhead Police and you all should be arrested" very uncomfortable few moments before they grabbed the dog and put it on a leash.

These people could read the signs that were clearly visible however they chose to ignore them.

The Dalai Lama once said "Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace".

I believe this applies to us all.

Another one: "Some people can swim in the sea of knowledge all day and still come out dry".

Its one thing to be unintentionally ignorant, but the ones who just dont care about the law despite being well aware they are breaking it are worse :(

I dare say most people breaking the law with regards to fish know full well that they are breaking the law, they just hide behind the "oh, I didnt know" card.

We are so blessed to have such a great evvironment with such a deverse wild life here in australia. After spending time fishing the pilbara and going out bush i now feel so attached to nature even now to a point that i feel bad even hooking fish or even killing fish to take home to eat but all we can do is handle them as carefully as we can and release of needs be or if we want to keep some fish dispatch them as quick and humain as possible.

Love fishing so much and wish i could spend more time fishing remote locations

Fri, 2011-01-21 19:43

Hate being a dobber myself but i saw some 'aussies' today - well the blokes mrs had an aussie flag towel around her not-insignificant girth today at the boat ramp today measuring a crab that was so small the ones on my crotch would kill it and trying to pretend it was size before chucking it in his esky . I musta had the old number cos it didnt work. Again i hate the feeling of being a little dobber but man i hate seeing that kinda crap especially after i threw back a nice pinkie which i reckon i coulda argued the point with or pulled its tail a little more to try and make it size. good to see someone got busted regardless where they come from
